Hey, can someone tell me how i can mount the side neons of a underbody neon kit? I don't have side skirts on the car, so I couldn't use that OEM sideskirt to hide/protect my neons like Mex and gearbox did....
I prefer to be able to do it w/o any drilling if possible... Thanks in advance.

You have to drill, since there's no place to use zipties. Be careful where you're drilling, cause there may be wires there. Also, my side tubes already broke from road stress I guess. If you do drill to put them on, make sure you stuff some foam or something so they're not directly touching the car body.

i don't even know where to drill... the car under body looks like "rubber" stuff on the sides, doesn't really feel like metal...
but i really prefer no drillling
is it possible to take those "rubber" thing out?

Well that rubber is just coating. You can scrape it off and there's metal underneath. Ireally don't see any other way unless you get sideskirts.

Under your car are these long boxy metal 2x4 things with holes in em... for when the shop jacks up your car.
-|___|- What I did was pry at the edge of these 2x4s with a screwdriver so that a thin strip of metal (or zipties) could pass under the metal seam, and into the inside of the 2x4. I then fished the end that I inserted into the 2x4 out through the hole in the 2x4 with my finger and created the loop with the zip tie--- the loop which would secure the neon.
Get it?

Be careful not to get your finger stuck in there.... I had a classmate in high school that stuck her finger into a locker hole at school so the fire department had to come by and weld the door off and surgically cut at the locker door.

how do you tie them to the side since the holes on the 2x4 are facing the floor? tie it at an angle from the hole to the edge of the 2x4?
and is the 2x4 long enough to hold the whole side tube? it seems pretty short compare to the side neon tube..
oh btw, your help is very much appreciated if you didn't know already

See? What I used were not zip ties, but pipe clamps. These metal clamps are similar to the clamps that you use on an intake. You tighten them by using a screwdriver, and the teeth of the screw on the clamp grab the rivets on the band of the clamp. I bought them at home depot. They are like $0.75. They are much easier and stronger to poke through the little crack between the floor of the car and the 2x4. See how the neon is secured against the side of the 2x4? This is what you should do. You have to pick which side you want the neon to be on though. Do you want em closer to the middle or closer to the sides of the car? You must know that the 2x4 is a cutoff point for the neon light. I put my neons closer to the sides of my car.

anyways, armeio, if you can take pictures of it, that would be great... also what size of the hose clamp did you use? I assume something bigger than 2" since you have to get around the 2x4...
also how do you hold the other end of the tube, 'cause it seems to hang too much if just holding it with the 2x4... again picture would be a great help

thanks again

hm... i want a DIY on a civic w/o kits or maybe just a special side section, 'cause mex and gearbox already posted the pics for the front and rear, so i kinda got the general idea for those, but they both have oem ss to hold their side neon, which i don't have... so a side neon install with pics for a civic w/o any kits would be great

you would help me a lot if you can do it
with that said, just see how hard it is for you to do it and if you have time... i don't want you to mess with your ss just for a picture...

do you already have neons? cause if you didn't i would go LED bars. I had a neon plate on my S 10 with a fiberglass roll pan and the neon tube exploded and ruined the roll pan. IMO LED bars would look better, prob much safer and more durable. neon seems to be old school anyway.

i originally wanted to get the 7color LED one, but no one put it in the groupbuy and then i found one for a good price so i just got it.
anyways, here are the pictures that was request
^left side's underbody^
^place where the "metal box" end^
^pic of where the metal box meets the front of the car^
^right side's underbody^
if you need more pic to draw on, let me know

Nice! Let me draw up a schematic...
Buy these....

The size should be at least the diameter of a jar of peanut butter or a large mug... the larger the better... but not TOO big. Go to home depot and look around... get the medium-large ones.

See the cracks? Pry at these (not too much) with a screwdriver just enough so you can shove the pointy end of the pipe clamp under the 2x4. The 2x4 will only be pried off about maybe 1 or 2 mm in that region.
The pipe clamp should be shoved between the 2x4 and the bottom of the car.
Only pry along the 2x4 where you see the big holes in the bottom. You do not need to pry the WHOLE thing off. See the 2nd crack that the middle arrow is pointing to? That would be your best bet because the pipe clamp will later come out of that hole that you see.
