DIY Stocks VS. TYCs
I want to think out loud, if you will and collect some opinions. I'm sure this is something thats gone through everyones mind at least once.
I have the TYC headlights... but recently the wiring harness for them went bad. They are telling me I have to replace both complete headlights... I spoke with TYC directly. Now, I managed to worm my way into a warrently replacement.
Is it worth it? Has anyone had any similar problems with the headlights going out for no reason? It will take TYC almost 3 weeks to replace the headlights and in the meantime I plan to DIY some black housings for the stock lights. Other than my human error on the sillicone, the stock lights are basically problem free.
The TYCs are inherently dimmer b/c the little projector lens is only refracting an H1 bulb... and you can't easily use real HIDs. (b/c there is no high beam on HIDs and it is a dual beam light, so you'd have a whole reflector just sitting there) as well as no vertical adjustment that I could figure out. I think the adjuster might have been broken or faulty.
This brings me all the way back to the point... should I just keep my blacked-out stock lights and throw in an HID conversion, or put back on the TYCs when they get back?

The recall, has nothing to do with your TYC's.. get that recall fixed.
As for the faulty wiring, I had some TYC's a while back, when they 1st came out. Had them for a tad over a year and the wiring melted. I chalked it up to the PIAA bulbs were too hot..
Either headlight looks good to me (if the stock ones are done nicely). I do plan on getting some new TYC's for my car, only because I love the look..
