I have looked at the oem tails, and the red part (reflective) doesnt come off.. Its part of the tail i believe... What I want to do is have a clear taillight, and use LEDs.

Simular to the lexus RX330 , Is that your idea too?

nah, my idea is way different but i dont want to say just yet till i figure out how to do it. the whole red thing(the lens) does come off of our lamps right?

... damn i wish someone had pics.

maybe someone on here has gotten rear ended that may have pics where the inside of the lamp could be seen?

but yeah.... thats a pretty kewl idea too. ill let you be the first though.

*edit* this isnt anything thats gonna be illegal either. just so everybody knows.

or.... does anyone wanna donate the stock tail lamp assembly of their coupe for a worthy cause?

okay... does anyone know what kind of plastic i can use to fabricate my own lenses?

i have access to a heat gun so bending part isnt an issue.

would plexiglass work?

I'm going to use LED's in my 04 tails. Either G35 style or M3 style. The BMW's actually use an LCD technology for their tails. I'll let out my little secret.
www.superbrightleds.com VERY CHEAP and VERY COOL.

the tail lenses are sealed with silicon you will have to melt that out with out damaging the whole tail light. Some punk punctured my tail light and I replaced it but kept the broken one for the purpose of finding out how it is assembled. I couldn't force the light to split open with out cracking any of the lenses. Finally I baked the sucker and melted the silicon seal off and got it to open. Don't try unless you are willing to sacrifice ur lights. My suggestion go to your local pick and pull and look for a tail light to try it on.

ok what if you were to heat up your stock tails, and take the red plastic cover off. then take altezza tails and cook the clear lens off and put it on your stock. it would make it totally clear and you could put ike red bulbs in or maybe chrome ones or something. prehaps the supperbright leds would fit in.

^just shareing an idea of mine... hope someone can prosper from something im to afraid to try! lemme know what you think
