Sorry for the long story:
AGAIN FOR THE 3RD TIME MY HEADLIGHT BULB HAS GONE OUT ON ME. THINGS LOOOKED DARKER WHEN I PULLED UP TO THE HOUSE AND SO I GO AND LOOK AND MY RIGHT PASSENGER HEALIGHT IS OUT. I AM SO PISSED OFF. I COME TO REALIZE THAT ITS NOT THE BULBS, BUT YET A WIRE PROBLEM. THIS DUDE MY FIANCE USE TO WORK WITH WORKS ON CAR AND SAID HE WOULD INSTALL SOME FOG LIGHTS I HAD. HE DID AND I FELT UNSURE OF THE WAY HE DID IT. MAYBE IT WAS THE RIGHT WAY TO GO AND WIRE THEM.
INSTALLATION: He took "tap-in Sqeeze Connectors" and tapped into the power wire on the headlight. So everytime my headlights turned on, the fog's would turn on below installed near OEM's suppose to go.
After: 6 months go by and the right headlight bulb goes out. So I replace it. 2 more months go by and one of the fog lights break from rocks. I take the fog lights out, but leave the wiring for future replacements. Never happens. A few months later the replacement headlight bulb goes out again. BTW the left one never goes out, but gets replaced everytime the other goes out. So I get fed up and take the old fog light wiring out and UnTap the connector, casue I'm pissed and I felt like that was my problem. Make long story short I've replace bulbs 3 times and I pissed.
Question:
1. Could my headlight wiring be ****ed up completely??
2. Is this under warranty?
3. Could HONDA fix this for me??? (no trace of fog lights, so it looks origonal)
4. WTF DO I DO?????????????????????

I replaced stock bulbs with Eurolite's, then replced those with some sylvania OEM bulbs, those went out, then replaced with some GE White's.
It may be the bulbs, I dunno. I used to have the same problem, one of my headlights would go out about every 3 months. I had the hyper white bulbs, so I'm not sure if its cause of that or something else

No Honda, I wrapped some electrical tape around the expose wite that looked stripped from its cover. Maybe this will help.
I would say that it was the bulbs. The aftermarket bulbs run on somethin like 85 watts while the OEM or even Sylvania's run at 52 watts. I put some aftermarket bulbs in mine and it actually melted the connecter that plugs in to the back of the bulb socket. I will never get those POS Hyper white bulbs again. I'm gettin HID's in a couple days. But anyways, like i was saying, i would say it was ur bulbs, but since you were running Sylvania's and they still burnt out, then I doubt it is the bulbs, but you never know.

I don't think tapping the fogs onto the headlight wiring was a good idea. It causes the same effect as running high wattage bulbs. I bet it messed up your electrical wiring, since the wires were not setup to handle that kind of current draw.
Honda recently announced it will be recalling about 440,000 2001-2002 Civics because the headlights keep going out. Its a problem with the wiring overheating. Talk to your dealer about it. They should be notifying affected car owners starting this month, March.

A) that wasnt the right way to do the install of the fogs
B) it doesnt really matter however
C) if you havent blown fuses, you have NOT damaged the wiring
D) since afermarket bulbs are generally CRAP I would say I'm 95% sure that its the bulbs fault
E) since bulbs have gone AFTER the fogs were disconnected, I would say I'm 100% sure its the bulbs
trust me

I wrapped electrical tape around the tap-in spot where there was wiring exposed to moisture. So far its working good. I made appointment with Honda, but cancelled cause I told them I was over mileage. They said then most likely it won't be warrantied. But maybe i should look into that recall ya'll were talking about.

all techs will first blame aftermarket, if a problem should arise on the car, it's standard procedure

I heard that there was a recall on the headlights for some 01 civc, do to the wiring harness, caused the lights to dim down. I don't know if that might be the cause affecting your car.
