I got projectors by TYC and wanna go for HID kit.What do you guys can recomend to use? I have been heard that better to heve no more then 5000K.
Can you suggest anything?

why tyc hid would suck

the tyc projectors are actually fog light projectors, they put out horrible light pattern, i swear i couldn't see. if you just want the look of true hid, and can be able to say you ave hids, go ahead, you will regret it.

you cna tell the color and beam pattern has changed drasticlaly with new projectors.

the color the light on real hids are mostly determined by the lens, not the light bulb itself. most oem projector based hid kits uses 4100-4500k


passenger side = h1 hid with ece valeo projectors
driverside = h1 hid with stock tyc projectors

THanx for reply.So can I use TYC if I`ll modify it and change projector lenses into Valeo projectors + byu all of that stuff or I should return TYC and use my OEM headlamps?
How is difficult that task?

the difficulty depends on your creativity, fabrication skills and what sort of tools you have laying around

my modification took me 2 days

some people believe the use of the oem housing is the best. i never used it, but i can tell you it won't be good as real projectors. you will most likely give off excess glare to incomming traffic

someone on hidfourms.com did do a conversion on a stock 7thgen light


it has bi-xenon(high low) capabilities, and suppsoely, it works good

actually... If u put a bi-xenon in oem headlights, you will be getting more light because the lense is bigger... if u would put them in the oem housing, you would have to paint the bottom reflector black, otherwise u will get a green/orange reflection rather then the blue/purple color

thanks guys. So you wouldnt recomed to use TYC projectors even if later to paint the bottom of treflector? In my point of view that pic has not big enough reflector, same like TYC, so whats the difference?

hids don't really use the reflectors, some reflectors they use sometime are actually there to dim the light output

you may want to consider painting the reflector, if you are using the oem lights. the tycs require no painting

I did my Bi-Xenon's in the stock housing, no projectors, works fine for me. If I'm up to it tonight I'll take some pics for you of the light patterm (send me a PM if you want them). It really depends upon how much work you want to put into it. You're not going to get anything as good as if it were OEM.

hmmm, just wondering, what happens if you were to retro fit, but put reg halogens in the projectors instead of HID? Would it still be better light than the original lenses with halogen? Im guessing there would be a difference since there was a difference in HID between stock and retro-fitted tyc projectors. Just wondering what would happen??? Would it be better light than a stock tyc projector with reg halogen bulbs?

true hid projectors won't fit regular bulbs, since they use d2 socket type

if i were to halogen bulbs in my projectors, it will be h7, so just go look at a beam pattern of a celica, and that's pretty much what mine would look like, if it were halogen

^ yea, lets say you buy like h7 piaa hyper white bulbs or whatever, and you put them inside the retro-fitted housing? How will the lighting be for that?

my projection headlights (02-YD-HC01-PCB-RIM) came with Xenon bulbs the projectors make it more focused but i wouldn't say it sucks, its just different, i think with brighter bulbs it would be decent, no where near anything expensive like HID tho.
