Lightbulb smoking ur taillights. . .

I was wondering if anyone knew how they smoke your taillights. Because I dont want to take of my taillights, I just want to tint it if its possible or put a strip of black transperant film on it. Also if anyone with smoked taillights could show me pics of there cars, that would be helpfull as well.

this is the best DIY I've seen for smoking tail lights...

http://forums.audiworld.com/tt/msgs/820106.phtml

I plan on using this method once I can cleanoff the Niteshades currently on my g/f's lights...NiteShades worked well for darkening the lights, but left a very flat finish...looks like a coat of lacquer could help shine them up.

You might run into a legal problem after smoking your tails if the police officer is a stickler and says he couldnt see your tailights from a certain distance away...in Az we have a measured distance that your tails have to seen from in order to be legal.

the problem I had with NiteShades was that it did not leave any sheen on the lights...they came out really flat. The method I posted from the Audi forum, by using a lacquer overcoat, keeps the sheen on the lights so that they are still reflective. If you look at the reflection of his lights, specifically the passenger side light, you can still make out the colors of the house and the window trim...granted, it's still not as reflective as a stock taillight, but it comes out much cleaner looking IMO, than using just NiteShades

maybe if you were to throw a lacquer overcoat onto a taillight covered in NiteShades it would work out?

How do you open up the stock outer tails on the sedan, I already f*ed up my inner tails by accidently warping the red plastic part. I plan on tinting the inner tails, cause they are my pos alteeza inner tails, then I want to tint the outer tails which are stock tails. So, how do I open up the outer tails and then what type of glue should be used to seal after finishing the tinting, preferrably a glue that wont be noticeable.

Thanks for help.

I don't understand....Do u paint the outside part of the lens, or the inner part of the lens tailights? Because, I looked at one of my taillights that i took off a couple of months ago because it got cracked, and I saw that it would be impossible to remove the back piece in order to get to paint the inner lens... Can someone please inform me, before i break apart my taillight, lol. Thanks

How much does a heat gun cost and I'm guessing I could go to someplace like Home Depot to get it. The tails were hot as hell when i took them out of the oven yet they would rather have cracked than be pryed open.

Oh yea, the guy on Audiworld painted the outer part of his tails so maybe I'll paint the outer tails on the outside and the inner tails on the inside...

BTW, what do you mean by, it would be impossible to open up the tails?

Silver chrome tint instead maybe?? Being silver and all you are extremely limited in your choices.
