Rep Power: 0 Finally I finished mine, I had the inner ones done a few months ago but I was too lazy to do the outer tails. I ran out near the end so it had a minor splotch, other than that they look really nice (the splotch is tiny and only noticeable up close). 3 cans is adviseable for the tint and 2 for the gloss if you have sedan. Only problem I had is the filament broke in my brake light when I took it out, thus I have to get a new one, and I dont have a brake for now.
My digital camera isnt too great so you cant really see that there is some red in the outer tails cause they are stock smoked, inner tails were smoked with clear plastic covers from altezzas.
All I need now is the black strip across trunk and to repaint the H emblem black and my rear is done. I'll probably get altezza grill and get mirrors painted (instead of ugly black plastic) and that should be the end of my exterior mods for a long while. (not counting rims of course).

Ive had mine done for about 6 months
they are starting to look dull...need to re do them
but it looks like ill just go buy some aftermarket taillights and smoke them in hopes that it will be brighter during the daytime...but i still haven't been pulled over!! very surprising! knock on wood

Man now everyone is going to have smoked tails. At least it will be easy to spot the 7thgen members
good job on the black out, just to let you know that if you want that dark you might want to go with led instead of bulbs. i haven't check the tail lights bulbs size yet, but im pretty sure your local auto shop carries it. the led is getting popular.

Rep Power: 316 ^^^^^^^^^^^^yeh but they arent nearly as bright because they dont disperse the light in a broad beam. so you just geta focused beam that isnt as visible as the oem bulb. maybe you could sand them down?
hehe, yea ive got a pic on my comp....well nm I HAD a pic on my comp but the HD is fried...but anyway i guess the sun hit it just right and they didn't look smoked at all..bad pic and not what they look like

when the sun hits my tails the red reflectors go through the tint as if there was no tint. they appear to be like dark pink. since i did the TYCs only the red circle in the middle and the red in the turn signals shine through the tint. either way i'm happy with how it turned out

Rep Power: 0 I did mine yesterday and today when i went to clean my car, i took some glass cleaner and sprayed the tail light. NOT GOOD! i wiped the light and it put a huge streek in it. It pretty much took off the gloss and some tint! so i just redid the one i messed up and now i have no idea whats goin to happen once i get a car wash. hopefully a car wash wont screw it up.

Ive been trying to sell my TYCs for months but now im gonna put them on and do the same. You have given us hope and we dont feel stupid anymore for spending so much on ugly taillights. FEEL PROUD!! I just got one question, Has anyone done a bad job and regret trying this method and have pics because all i see is pictures of people who did it right? somebody had to of screwed up

Rep Power: 0 Well I can guarantee you that as long as you didnt do this 5 months ago then I semi-beat you to the punch, I smoked my inner taillights (although there is a tiny spec that just came off so I'm thinking of redoing one of the sides) before this DIY was posted, but dont worry, there are not that many people on this site and there are a whole lot of civics out there so you shouldnt feel too bad, it makes black cars look sweet btw.

Rep Power: 0 i thought you painted theses on the outside ... how do they look pink? when lighted up?.. i also got tyc and i want to do this to back tyc 's.. ITS LOOKS GOOD.. but you feel me ****.. i want them smoke or light the lexus. WHAT you'd do reccomend doing different?
