I've got the problem with the noise from the tranny when the clutch is engaged and also have smooth spots on the clutch/ flywheel... I'm getting a new clutch kit in this week and just ordered the bearing from Honda. I've been looking on the forums and people have been saying that the bearing costs like $21 from the dealer and mine was $40. I want to make sure I ordered the right bearing.. The one with the arrow is the input shaft bearing, correct?

Input shaft bearing is mounted to the case, not the input shaft. You want to replace the seal too. #'s 5 & 8. It's fairly easy to replace once you have the trans out.

So the bearing I ordered (#13) is not the one causing the noise? #5 in the picture on your post is the one that's causing the noise and should be replaced? Is it still a good idea to replace the other if i already ordered the part and will have the tranny open?

oh ****, I didn't even realize you're not talking about a 7thgen.
At any rate, you still have the wrong part you need #'s 7 & 4
If the noise goes away when you push the clutch in when the car is running, and returns in neutral or under load in gear, this is the bearing you need to replace. If you ordered the wrong part, you should be able to return it with a restocking fee if you don't open it. Assuming you ordered from a dealer.

hmm... The guy at the dealer said they're non returnable.. Maybe i'll have to call them tomorrow and see what they say.. prolly order the other stuff online for cheaper. So you recommend replacing the oil seal also?

yea, you don't want to chance having it leak and having to pull the trans back out.

Just got back from Honda and they charged me another $7, total of $47 to return the other bearing and order the new with oil seal... Should be in tomorrow hopefully along with the clutch kit!

Throw out bearing is an entirely different part, that goes on the clutch fork. Input shaft bearing goes inside the transmission.

Well, here's the latest.. took it in for the clutch/bearing replacement/flywheel resurfacing this morning and just heard back from the shop.. the noise is still there, coming from the transmission. They said the easiest is to get a new transmission, rather than overhauling it.. what are prices on a new (used) tranny?
