Bagels is an unknown quantity at this point
D17a1 mt. vs at. Engine compatibility

So here is the rundown. I own an 04 civic lx. The engine is no longer good after 296xxx miles. The manual trans is great.

I found an engine out of an 02 civic that is an automatic.

My question is will the 02 at engine work in my 04 manual.

I know the oxy sensors are different but from what i read i should be able to use the 02 engine with my 04 sensors and wiring harness. Would anything else be dofferent.

Thanks in advance

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

There are differences between VTEC and non-VTEC engines, and you may need to swap EGR related stuff if one has it and the other does not. (water passage and intake gasket?)

Otherwise, if you are going to strip it down to the bare block and head for a transplant, I think all you need to swap would be the flex plate and its bolts for the flywheel and pilot bearing.
