Check Engine Light/Gas Cap

My Check Enigine came on while I was driving last night and I was freaking out. Someone told me to check the gas cap and when I did, I figured it was the cause of the light coming on because I did not close it tightly.

How long does it take for the light to go off after I tightened it back up?

You have to tighten down the cap until it clicks 3 times.

3 clicks is the trick! If you didn't do the 3 clicks, be prepared to make a trip to your local Honda dealer to get the light reset....the only way I was told it can be done...

Just open the hood, and take out the 7.5 amp memory fuse, and wait 10seconds, then put it back in....problem solved dude!

the check engine light is programmed to come on. read the manual it will explain this and how to get rid of the light. but the manual left out one tiny detail. make sure your odometer reading is showing and not your A and B trip setting before you go through the motions to reset the light.

I think you're talking about the maintenance required light, not the CHECK ENGINE light. The manual doesn't say how to reset the CHECK ENGINE light. If it does I don't know where.
