Check Engine Light after installing new air filter

Hi,

The CEL appeared 2 days after I changed the air filter on my 2004 Civic. What could be the problem?

Thanks for your quick reply!

It's the engine air filter, FRAM CA8911. Maybe I didn't install it properly?

I will definitely get the codes read if the problem persists but right now I'm hoping that the light will turn off by itself. Is it possible that my car just needs some time to get used to the new filter? I only drove the car for 5 kms after changing the filter on Sunday...

no thats not likely at all....

it could be just a coincidence, or it could be something you did,

has the CEL come on in the past?

only way to tell is by the codes, most auto parts store will read them for free, start there and report back,

you could also reset the light and see if it comes back on (disconnect battery for 15 mins),

Yes the CEL did come on in the past but I don't remember for what reason. It was a long time ago.

I'll have my mechanic check the code before I go camping this weekend. I think it's a good time to have him change the spark plugs anyway. Thanks for your help mikey1!
