Fumes inside car

Hello, I have an 07 Honda Civic EX & I have fumes coming inside my car. Can anyone tell me what might be the cause? It seems to be an intermittent problem. And how expensive will this be to fix? Thank you!

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

Re: Fumes inside car

What kind of fumes?

Gasoline?
Exhaust? (may be cars ahead of you)
Antifreeze?
Skunk?
Farts?

Re: Fumes inside car

fumes as in most likely gasoline..but i have no idea because I don't know what the problem is. And it's not from the cars in front of me, it's my car & it's been going on for a few months now, so it has to be from my vehicle.

Identifying the correct smell is a good start. Make sure it's really raw gasoline you smell, not something else.
.but i have no idea because I don't know what the problem is.
The problem is you smell gas.
Next you have to figure out where it is coming from.

Tell us more about the story.

Got any noticeable gas leaks? Puddles? Stains?
Is the check engine light on? What's the code(s)?

Do you park in a closed garage?
Can you smell it when you walk up to the car?
Do you smell it on the outside, or the inside of the car?
Is this the only place you smell it?

Is there a gas can in the garage? Is it open or leaking? (don't laugh, this happens and it was super frustrating having to go to a customers house to identify his damn leaking lawnmower gas can)

Walk all the way around the car, do you smell it in front or rear of the car?
Open the hood, do you smell it in the engine compartment?

DO you have rodents in the neighborhood?
