2008 DX potential Build.

[CENTER]Hi guys i am new here. I have a 2008 Honda civic DX everything is stock as it is.

I have about a 4-5Grand Budget.

I want to see how far i can stretch it.

Body Kit. Link Vis Racing Body Kit.here
Window Tinting. Very cheap -200.
Lowered Stance. http://www.autoanything.com/suspensi...A6570A0A0.aspx
Basic Bolt ons for the engine (i was thinking about putting all my money into a turbo but i do not want to mess with the reliability.) Intake Race Header Skunk2 Maybe a FlashPro
Fog Lights.
Removal of Civic logo + blacked out H emblem.
New Painted Rims( Gold / Black ). Wheels
Minor interior(maybe).

Once i find the products i want i'll be posting them here. Once they all come in the mail i'll be posting a build log.

a motor swap with a B16A motor.
Why would you go to a smaller engine?
(And why did the quote get formatted like that?)
Im sure im forgetting somethings,
You must be, it already has a 1.8 in it. Unless you meant the car is a 1998 or something?

Re: 2008 DX potential Build.

An 08 has an R-18 engine, not a B.
The number is the displacement. 18=1.8 liters.
The Si would have the 2.0 liter engine, a DX/LX/EX has the 1.8L.
There is also a sticker under the hood that tells the displacement.

SO you wanted to go from (what you thought was a) 2.0 liter engine down to a 1.6 liter engine?

I was mistaken. I was thinking the K20 Si engine but now, i think im going to mod my R18 Engine. I feel like it would be more fun to spend 4-6k and making my car faster than SIs.

I'd like to know how much money the guy building the engine in that other thread has spent. He should be knocking down 10 sec 1/4 mile times with that.

considering Stock SIs run mid - high 13s im not really interested in track times. Im more modding my DX to make it more enjoyable to drive daily.

With this in mind i am trying to decide between Turbo + additional Bolt ONs or just stick with Bolt Ons + exterior.

i want to get Si Sway Bars + A standard Transmission Swap first before anything else.

Re: 2008 DX potential Build.

Yeah swapping a b16 would be illegal anyway, the 8th gen si's had the k20...that's what i would go for but something tells me none of this is gonna get done

Re: 2008 DX potential Build.

With 4 to 5 grand id be looking at three major options, building up the r18 like this guy did-https://www.civicforums.com/forums/46-members-rides/345119-fully-built-r18-stepping-up.html
(probably more than 4-5 grand but you get the point), swap the engine, or convert it to a type-r and do some basic engine work (maybe a go power cam). Thats just me though

Can't do heavy engine mods..Just minor engine bolt ons + some exterior mods. IM excited by it.

I really want the boosted bolt ons + Fog lights +Lowered stance.

I don't want to tamper with the engine too much since i only have 28,XXX on it. I thought about selling it for an SI but thats going to cost me 8-9k Which i don't have right now.

Re: 2008 DX potential Build.

Doesn't the r18 have the headers built into the block? And youll have to find a new place to get an "inspection" now lol

They do have built in headers. But its what most part companies call them the headers. Its a straight pipe that leaders to the muffler.

It needlessly eliminates the CAT, causes the CEL to be on with P0420, makes you fail emissions tests, drops gas mileage when the computer uses the rear O2 to check the cat or for fuel control, and you spend even more money trying to get the light to stay off.....that wouldn't have been a problem if someone hadn't dinked with it in the first place.
