I just got a '94 Civic lx from a friend and I remember that his dash lights would randomly go off. He would slam the dash and they'd come back (loose connection I guess). Anyway, now I have the car and the lights don't work at all (all that slamming I'm sure). Is there a switch I can replace or do I need a whole new cluster? I make sure it's not a fuse, but I think since it was an intermittent problem, I don't that that's it. Let me know!

I'll add that it's all of the gauges and climate controls that don't work. The clock and the little green lights on the climate controls that indicate which one you are using still work.

You need to use a test light and start at it. I'd start with all the grounds. Just keep testing different sections until you figure out where the break is.

Search the web for the free factory service manuals available.
You need a schematic and some help with wire colors.
Are your tail, licence and front parking lights working ?? The dash illumination works off of the marker/tail circuit.
