3 wire alternator to 4 wire conversion

Long story short. Have a 1998 Canadian Acura EL with 3 wire alternator. PCM is non ELD.

It is going out and I need to replace it. Most auto parts stores dont carry the 3 wire 70 amp alternators as they are special order. But I can get the 4 wire ones all day long at any store.

Ive looked up and some folks say you can just splice in a 4 wire 75 amp alternator harness onto my stock 3 wire and leave the 4th wire just disconnected as the Canadian PCM doesnt care.

Anyone here running one like this?

Re: 3 wire alternator to 4 wire conversion

Decided to just get the right alternator. A civic GX from the same year has 3 wire.

But from what I read online on other forums is you just leave the 4th wire disconnected and all works out like it should.
