Rep Power: 0 Honda 08 won't run over 1.5RPM
I own an Honday Civic 2008 automatic transmission. My car is having an intermitent issue and no one can figure it out. What it does is sometimes you press the accelerator pedal and when you look at the RPM gauge it will not show any movement at all just like if you were not pressing the pedal, if you turn the wheel all the way to the right and press the pedal again, it will then start showing some activity but it will not go above 1.5RPM and it can hardly move like if it had no power whatsoever.
Please if anyone has any ideas I will appreciate your help.
By the way the issue "fixes itself" sometimes.

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

Sounds like a thottle-by-wire issue.
Very few issues with them here.
Got any codes?
I don't see any bulletins on it..
The only thing I can think of, without more pertinent info from the car itself: Has anyone tried cleaning the throttle body yet?
My recommendation: You need to go to a dealer that has at least one competent tech (rocket scientist), that is willing to take the time necessary to solve the problem.
If it is not covered by a warranty, you had better be prepared to PAY for this.
When you drop it off: Make SURE they see exactly what the car is doing wrong before you leave. Take someone for a test drive if you have to.
Make SURE it is fixed before you drive it away.
How many miles on it?
What is the "in service date"?
Possible powertrain warranty coverage (5/60).
