We just got this car and the low beams are dull while the high beams don't work at all. So first I want to check the high beam filaments, but then I was thinking of just replacing them. Looks like these are 9003 units.

So if I want to pay a little extra and get the maximum brightness ones ( not HID - just standard ) which ones are good for that?

In other headlight bulbs I've seen, instead of paying $20 for a bulb, you could pay $25 or $30 and get ones that were 25% brighter or 50% brighter.

I don't want special white or blue spectrum ones, because I talked with a cop years ago and he said that the blue ones might not even meet DOT standards and that the yellow range spectrum of standard bulbs are actually better for seeing at night, because yellow bends around curves and corners in the dark better.

So what's good, group?

Phillips Extreme bulbs are the brightest legal bulbs you can get sylvania bulbs are not brighter there just whiter also look into PIAA bulbs.

Found Philips 9003 XPS2 X-treme. The only problem appears to be that no one carries them locally in Denver. I see them on amazon.com inexpensively, but want to pick them up locally soon.

PIAA are a bulb manufacturer that are extremely well built but not legal i don't believe and they cost an arm and a leg. i would just order the phillips online you don't really have a choice.

order the phillips and see how you like them if there not what you want then step up to PIAA if you don't mind the price just make sure you order from a certified dealer because there are alot of fake ones floating around.also remember the more power you get out of a filament bulb the less life it will have.
