Driver side door lock not working, the rest work 2001 civic LX 4 door
I went through the factory manual and troubleshot the easy stuff. The accuator is not broken, the old one and the brand new one. I have 12V to the acuator from the door lock switch, but it doesn't move it, and yet all the rest of the locks work.
Using hot wires, as per the manual, the accuator works. There is a two pin connector. The one pin shows 12V when I move the door lock switch. The other wire is yellow with a green stripe. I test hooked that wire to a ground and the door switch will lock the drivers door normally, but it will not unlock it.
If I push down on the manual door lock button above the outside handle, all doors will lock. If I pull up on it, all doors will open. But, if I don't pull up on the button, I cannot open the door.
I looked under the dash for broken wires and saw the viper unit that was hooked up 7 years ago. The guy at Best Buy just wrapped the bare wires around the factory wires. No solder, no connector. Just tape. Amazing it worked for 7 years!
I also used a ground wire from the chassis to the center terminal of the door lock switch and still nothing. The door lock switch tests for ohms.
If I apply a ground to the two outer wires of the lock switch, the accuators on the 3 other doors move up and down.
There is a multiplex part, I don't know where it is, that may be bad. How hard is it to change out if I get one from the junk yard.
Any ideas on what to check from here????
