locked keys in car

I locked my car keys in my 2002 honda lx. Is there anyway I can retrieve it? I would rather not call a towing/locksmith agency if there's a way to do it yourself.

Re: locked keys in car

I did that once. I ended up calling a locksmith and got charged $110. It was robbery honestly. You can take a metal coat hanger and straighten it out so it's like one wire, you can fish it between the rubber on the door and the inside of the car, he slid something in between and filled it with air so there was a small gap between the door and the rubber, he just put in some metal rod and hit the unlock.

Re: locked keys in car

I see.. so you basically
1.) straighten out a wire hanger
2.) slide it into your car parralel to the window pane (where do I start? At the far end, middle, or right on top of the lock when I'm sliding the wire hanger in)
3.) what I'm I fishing for?
4.) what kind of small rod? Does it have to be skinnier than the wire hanger?

thanks for replying!

Re: locked keys in car

Straighten out the wire, take a screwdriver (or something you can wedge in) , PUT A RAG AGAINST THE CAR and wedge it in between the door, stick wire in where ever you please, and hook it on the lock, do so until you unlock the door.

Is it really that hard ?

No but seriously ... ignore what I said, you're fishing for salmon or trout .. forget about fishing for the lock
