Hi I am trying to replace the alternator on my 2002 Acura 1.7 EL, and got an OEM replacement, but it doesn't seem to fit into the upper mounting bolt bracket - just barely. Is there any way that bracket or the alternator can be adjusted so that it can? or do I have the wrong alternator?

I looked up the part id 13893, and it seems to be the right one for the car. What gives ?!?

I had to get it in with a rubber mallet. Same issue. I believe they're designed that way.

Mine was tight too... not sure why they make it that tight but I had to use a mallet as well...

No mallet needed here, but at first it seemed impossible.

I completely loosened the bolts on the alternator mounting bracket so I had more room to adjust as I tried to manuver it into place, it slid right in and then I retorqued the mounting bracket bolts.

I had mine loosened right up.. but I was putting the same alternator in that I removed... seems the brackets bend a little bit towards the alt. when the bolt is tightened... over time it settles into that position and it doesnt accept a new alternator... I was putting the old one back in and I couldnt get it. I ended up sanding a little bit off the alternator bracket (the one on the alt itself) to let it slide in. I couldn't find a better way to do it.
