Oil Leak on top of engine...

Hi,

I have a 2003 LX that leaks oil from the top of the engine near a plug like thing with wires that goes to the valve cover/spark plug area. It is near the passenger side. I cleaned the oil off and discovered it is leaking near the plug. Not the plastic cap on the side.

What is this and is it easy to replace/repair?

Thanks

Re: Oil Leak on top of engine...

Is it oil or antifreeze?

Clean it all spotless using spray brake cleaner.

Coat the area with ordinary white talc, spray right guard, baby powder or foot powder.

Drive it until the leak shows itself, there should be a clear trail left in the powder leading to the source.

I'd usually suspect the round plug but that usually pools oil directly below it.
The other normal choice is the valve cover gasket.

Hi,
I just discovered I have the same exact issue on my daughter's 2003 Honda Civic. Were you able to locate and fix the issue?

Thanks
