Full Coilover Alternatives... Trust me, take a look and read

I see many of you guys are looking for full coilovers. Many of you want them because you know they are A. Adjustable, B. should ride good, and C. sounds good when you say you have full coils ;).

In reality, many true coilover systems are not made for the street. Since most of you are looking at choices A. and B. I will explain how ride comfort with coilovers gets a bit killed.

Full coilovers are meant for race applications. They have what is a Non-Progressive spring. That means that the spring is for example 350LBS through out. A spring like the eibach sportline if you've noticed is progressive spring rated. At the top, you may be at near stock about 150-170LBS. As the spring compresses more, you progressivley go to a heavier weight allowing the ride to get firmer. If your driving your car mostly on the street, a progressive rate is best or else you will be bouncing all day long.

Now to cover part A. Adjustability: Most of you know that when you adjust something on your car which is hard to get to, you do it once and thats it. Many full coilovers are height adjustable for race use. You will most likley adjust your height 1 or 2 times.

So, in the end ive compiled a list of products to consider when looking at suspension performance. You dont want to have something totally overkill for street and then use something under for the track. Take a look:

yeah, they're still awesome for the crappy roads of Toronto. another thing is that its a straight swap for the stock suspension, no dicking around with konis in stock struts.

truehonda 11-15-2005 04:06 PM

+1 for Xenin and -1 for me forgetting the killer tokico's!

Great info! This really helped! Now all I gotta do is get me some money... :sweet:
Hope it doesn't take too long

BTW: Noticed you don't offer Tein S Tech... but... I've got a question. What's the difference between these and the Eibach Pro or Sportlines? Thanks.

truehonda 11-17-2005 09:07 PM

Pro kit = 1" Drop almost like stock
Sport kit = 1.75" Drop and more firmer springs

truehonda 11-22-2005 04:01 PM

Tttt

goodtimes 11-24-2005 12:28 PM

ok how would the koni's differ from the D specs

and would bouth be good with ground controls

truehonda 11-24-2005 12:30 PM

both would be awsome with GC's. Koni's are a bit rougher for more race purpose. But the D Specs are drop in adn go, koni's need cutting in front.

Eddie

goodtimes 11-24-2005 12:32 PM

what would be the price of the d specs, witch one would be better for like mostly city driving but weekend mountian driving and maybe some auto x.

thanks.

sil04ver 12-20-2005 07:16 PM

hdave 12-24-2005 12:19 PM

05 civic SEDAN.
i have kyb agx shocks, but i need SPRINGS!!

i want like 1.4 - 1.5" all around

neuspeed sports seem a little too low for me :(

any other suggestions?

ragingSPAM 12-25-2005 08:44 PM

if you can beat ebay prices for d-specs ill buy some...as in ebay prices for just the shocks on average goes for $500 or so shipped...

truehonda 12-27-2005 09:20 AM

Cant match or touch ebay prices, most of it is gray market.

truehonda 12-27-2005 09:21 AM

All of these will fit 01-04's and the tokico's will need minor minor drilling. PM me if you guys are interested!

Something not that low is an eibach prokit about 1" all around

hdave 12-27-2005 11:37 AM

^ unfortunately thats for a coupe :(
the rear will sag with my system
