K24block/K20head or a K20A2

ive been doing alot of readin and listenin to members of my car club and what to do i was thinkin about the K20 swap but then my car club was tellin me about hte k24 wit k20 heads and i did a sreach and i couldnt come up wit an numbers as far as horse power and what would give me a better run time and over all horse power which ever set up i go will be turbo but im just wonderin if anyone had any more info that i cant seem to find on this

ok i found the post on here about someone in the middle of this build now but wit the k20z3 head instead of the k20a2 head i kno there is a problem wit the k24 and k20a2 head if you dont build the bottom end. and revin to high and blowing a rod is there an issuse u wit this on the k20z3 head also or is it only the k20a2 head on that block

K24/K20 is the only way to go imo, unless you want to have a some what torqueless high reving motor.

As far as numbers, K24/K20 with bolt-ons are usually around 230 whp and almost 200 ft/lbs torque

HondaLuver 12-19-2006 01:18 PM

the k24a4(accord) doesn't mate with the k20a2 or k20z heads becuse of the piston clearance

if you want more info on the k series engine, i suggest

k20a.org

or try the f20 block, k20 head, b16 IM, and b18 valve cover. From past experiences, ive seen this setup make close to 395whp.

ps...this topic has been beaten to death. use "search"

oh yeah, and welcome to the boards.

Its ok, people think they have to parent the forums when they feel people didn't search long enough.

Like Hondaluver said, K20a.org is great, but read the FAQ's over there too.

theres just no need for these threads....all he would have had to do was look a LITTLE bit harder.

I think that the frankenstein head swaps are relatively ambitious, next step up from the standard k series swap. I do not have confirmed imformation on this but I thought that the combination itself didn't make more power then the complete k20 until you bolt on.

well i was talk to a buddy abou thte head issue and he was sayin that there is anoher piston i can use and it will slove that issue but he lead me to
k20a.org also

true story... i freakin' agree. My cars a joke when i race from a roll. I lose to the most unexpected... quick off the line though. But k20/k24 is the best setup.

Odd that you should say that. I've been around a helluva lot of type-s, and the only races they ever win are from a roll, concisdering they don't start making power until about 5k. I know you have the K20a, but the only recognizable "low end" difference is your more agressive transmission.

HondaLuver 12-23-2006 12:22 PM

when i had my k24/k20 set up with my 225/45/17 azenis, i would have full wheel spin between 1st, second, and third gear i would actually get traction half way. the amount of low end tq is unbelievable.

mypetstork 12-23-2006 12:28 PM

k24/k20's have something most K's dont have. Torque, but still i'd take any K over the d17.

TheSmuggler 12-23-2006 03:07 PM

Hmmm perhaps I'll have to consider the hybrid

tazncazper 12-23-2006 11:14 PM

yea anything is better than this d17 but im tryin to get the best set up for what i want to run
