k20 automatic?

I have an 02 civic ex auto and i was woundering if it was possible to make a k20 auto. Or would it be easier to convert my car to manual instead and have a regular k20 swap?:help: :hithead:

RHCP0801 09-03-2006 08:13 PM

convert it to manual

jamesandrew58 09-03-2006 09:11 PM

i wanna do a k20a3 from a base auto but i cant find info.. any1 else know beside converting?

jester444 09-03-2006 09:18 PM

I've never heard of it done... Not to say it can't, but every K-swap I've seen has either been manual in the first place, or converted to manual.

maybe its never been done cause youre barely gonna gain 20hp

RHCP0801 09-03-2006 09:33 PM

waste of money also

jamesandrew58 09-03-2006 10:29 PM

if i did a manual conversion on a d17 i would need to get

shifer assembly, shifter lines, clutch/brake/gas pedals, clutch master cylinder, hardlines, and the actual tranny w/fly and clutch and new throwout bearing, ecu

do i need a new subframe also? is the top tranny mount located in the same area?

and for installation of the clucth pedal and mastercylinder
are the holes already making this a bolt on install or do i need to drill holes?

for the wiring harness, anything needed to be modified?

can the fly/clutch bolt onto the motor that was previously a automatic?

you will need to drill holes for the pedal assembly, there are are grooves in the uni-body that indicated where the pedal assembly is going to go. so it makes it a bit easier to do.

as for the master cylinder im not quite sure about that, but for the slave cylinder you will have to drill for that as well. im not sure if theres a groove for sure but most likely there is. all you have to do is drill and grind. its alot easier said than done.

i dont know about wiring harness, but if you dont use a manual ecu you have to so some cutting and splicing for the auto ecu to work correctly.

your manual tranny will bolt up fine to the egine including clutch and flywheel.

you can modify your subframe so that it supports the smaller manual tranny but if you dont know how to weld i would suggest getting the manual subframe.

if you do an auto k20 i will buy a plane ticket to where ever you live so that I can come to your house to bitch slap you

RHCP0801 09-03-2006 10:58 PM

lets play what mod will close this

i say c2i0v0i1c or something like that or havok2k1

Curiouz_G 09-03-2006 10:59 PM

if your looking for more power, it would be easier to boost instead of a k20 auto swap. youd make more power with less money.

man what happened to s2kman?

RHCP0801 09-03-2006 11:01 PM

yea he hasnt been here for a while, if he was it wouldve been closed by him as soon as it was posted

SLO REX 09-03-2006 11:02 PM

I say one of these three civic01vtec, Havok2k1, C2i0v0i1C. :giggle: (they are the only people who can close the threads in here )

jfan 09-03-2006 11:04 PM

Try to help him out or just browse another thread.

jamesandrew58 09-03-2006 11:40 PM

hmm look

http://www.7thgencivic.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=123114

was searching and i found out if ididnt misread the holes are already predrilled, just bolt on for the pedals/cylinder

02fpcivic 09-04-2006 09:36 AM

Well I for one would like to see this done. If you did a turbo auto and the trans was sent out to be beefed up. Think of the consistent times you could have.

gearbox 09-04-2006 11:05 AM

ya but think of all the $ you spend.

bOoStEd042dr 09-04-2006 11:07 AM

after seeing all these threads poping up....i'd like to see just one person or two do this....just to see

02fpcivic 09-04-2006 11:51 AM

90% of all drag cars use some form of an automatic transmission, or clutchless sequencial transmission. Consistancy is no waste of money, it wins races more often than not. The stock k20 has proven to be durable enough to handle descent amounts of boost. I see great potential for a built turbo k20 bracket racer. If this dude wants to try an auto swap out, dont fault him for it. It may help some of us later on for a more serious build.

BlackKnight008 09-04-2006 12:05 PM

ya right I bet he just doesnt want to drive manual

02fpcivic 09-04-2006 02:18 PM

prolly, lol. I honestly cant stand driving an auto on the street.

jamesandrew58 09-04-2006 02:28 PM

crap i want to drive stick.. i drive my friends integra/rsx/eclipses just so i dont forget how to haha.. and i make them drive my car.. they like my car since it handles so good
