k20 premium again

ok fist thread blocked making me seem liek a dumass, does the k20 a3 form a rsx premium fit in the enigne bay because on the website hasport.com it says only the si k20a3 fits,a nd the rsx doesnt because of the intake manifold(k20 a 3!) so does anyone have an rsx premium in there car, not the k20 a2 type s i know that fits

All the K series motors are basically the same. The K20A2 and A3 have the same dimensions as far as the block goes.
short answer yes, the A3 will fit no problem...but then you have to ask yourself, why spend this much money to do a motor swap, for a motor that isnt that great? Why not spend the extra bit of money, get another gear int he tranny, a higher redline, real VTEC, higher compression, more hp, and more torque?

Hawk 01-30-2004 08:19 AM

you made a link to a website telling you it won't fit, yet your asking weather it will fit?

It won't, as hasport says the intake manifold is bigger on the RSX k20a3 then on the SI k20a3.

So your options are the k20a2 from the RSX-S or the k20a3 from the SI.

I'd highly recommend the k20a2

alright ya thats what i was wondering , the onyl reaosn i was considering the a3 from an rsx was i could get it for a ridiculously low price(1700 canadian for an almost brand new engine) where as type s's go for around 7 canadian so i felt it owuld be better to buy that and turbo it, but now ill just look for a type s

ViNRoCk8 01-30-2004 06:51 PM

You couldn't just change the IM????

If thats the only thing that stops it from fitting just change that.

chrisgushue 01-30-2004 09:23 PM

true, or could i put a type s tranny? would that work with the k20 a3 engine and a2 tranny?

I am sure you could, but why?

chrisgushue 01-31-2004 02:11 AM

if i can get a type s tranny for a grand and a k20 premium for 1700 thats 2700 canadian for both...cheaper than 3500 american

supercivic 02-01-2004 03:30 PM

forget the a2 tranny, just go ahead and throw the a3 in there and change the manifold. If you can get that for 1700 spend that extra grand on a NOSzle direct injection kit

chrisgushue 02-01-2004 09:47 PM

will the type s manifold bolt directly on? someone also said i could put a flexilite fan or move the radiator and it should fit, anyone know?

ViNRoCk8 02-01-2004 10:07 PM

I would just change the IM....it should fit. PM brian g see what he says....

If my memory serves me correctly, they haven't added the new info to their site yet. The k20a2 swap into the SI was performed before the k20a2 was put into the coupes. YES they do make a kit to put any of the k20a motors in our cars and they are working on a kit for a k24. If you are looking for a reputable shop to install your motor, call Chuck at Evans Honda Specialist. Let him know that I sent you. They are a HAsport dealer and they know Hondas/Acuras. www.evansautomotive.net

chrisgushue 02-03-2004 04:43 PM

well i liv ein calgary alberta canada, and you said they make a kit for the k20a(type r) what about the k20a3(rsx premium)

Thats funny because the A3 comes with the exact manifold as the A2. I wouldnt understand why they would put a bigger one on the base models?

If you look at the RSX base model intake manifold it's plastic. completly different mani than the A2.

The SI's i beleave is the same size, but the porting is bigger on the A2's compared to the A3's

NytRyder2k2 02-05-2004 11:56 AM

Im swapping an a3 and i have the type s IM and i hope it fits. From what everyone is telling me, it will

Hawk 02-05-2004 11:58 AM

yea i beleave the a2 mani does work with the a3.

SilverSivic02 02-07-2004 02:02 PM

hey nytrider, if our swapping an a3 then why is it for sale? Im just a little curious cause I am considering doin the same swap.

civicvtec1ps 02-07-2004 09:25 PM

Si's K20a3 intake manifold is identical as k20a2 Rsx Type s.

Quote
1) The Civic's engine bay has the same dimensions as the Civic Si, not the RSX. For that reason the RSX base model engine's intake manifold will not clear the core support

Rsx base's intake manifold will not fit just like what Hasports said.

NytRyder2k2 02-07-2004 09:54 PM

Well i have the motor and most of the parts but i dont have enough money to finish it right now so im thinking about selling it. If youre interested hit me up. thanks
