is a ball bearing turbo better than just a regular turbo? and how does say hks ball bearing turbos compare wit the turbos SF offers with there kit? the garret t3

For the cost... worthless performance-wise on a street car. It helps spooling by a tiny amount, and that tiny amount is what you'd want on a race car. Not worth the $$ on this car. All IMO of course.

The Garrett T3 is more than adequate IMO.

ball bearings are a difference where the turbine connects. At the rotating point of the turbocharger, where there is friction from one part spinning, ball bearings are inserted, which lowers the friction, allowing higher boost levels, smoother operation, and faster spoolup. The SF turbo upgrade is not this though; it is the upgrade to the T3 Super 60, which is slightly larger. I agree with Boosted2k2 that it is completely unnecesary for a civic.

which is better a t3 or t3/t4? pros and cons would be nice..:)

Like I said, the turbo in the SF kit is the t3, and if you get the $100 upgrade, that upgrades to a T3 Super 60. Essentially a t3/t4 is turbine section from the t3, and the compressor section from the t4 (to4e). This allows little turbo lag, but supports high compression.

it is able to support higher levels of horsepower, yes. But if you read the description, it says under the t3 that it is ideal for smaller displacement cars...I don't know what you thought Honda's were, but 1.7L is pretty damn small. A t3/t4 is better, but on our cars is unnecessary. Our engine blocks can only handle about 11psi of boost with alcohol injection, and a t3 can easily handle that much power.

i just read C2i0v0i1c posted he gets full boost at 4500 rpm thats bad ryt? i think i read catalyst has full boost at around 3000 rpm and he has a t3..for those who has the t3 where does the power end..at what rpm? just to make sure the t3 is better for our cas ryt? thanks..

MY TD kit came w/ a T25 BB turbo. Another great thing is that B turbos can take more compressor surge then thrust bearing type turbos.

Well, on a t3/t4, the housing is larger. Makes for longer spool time. The t3 has a smaller housing and with the 60 compressor wheel, it makes for quick spool and power throughout the entire rpm range. In other words, the turbo spools to full boost around 3200 rpm and makes boost to redline. Its a very powerful turbo and I love the way it feels from when it picks up all the way to redline.

i wanted a 50trim but got a 54 trim bc of future agenda....i do wish that it spooled completely by 3500 but ill take what i got
