MR2 vs. Civic SI I'm getting ready to buy a 1991 Toyota MR2 (non-turbo), a friend of mine has a 2002 Civic SI (fully stock). A discussion got started at work about which one is faster. I think that the MR2 would easily beat the SI, if the drivers are equal in skill. What do you guys think? |
SI, i have friends with stock civics that can beat mr2's |
I think Si would beat Mr2 (being both driver's skillz are equal) |
si would own the mr2 |
the si would win but if u had the turbo mr2 the si would get rolled |
Well which is faster a 2002 Si or a 2000 Si, cause my housemate's MR2 NA 5-speed can beat EM1 Si's. |
I beat MR2 with my LX !! |
Those must be $hitty mr2 drivers then...those things are pretty quick...I dont know what year the rounded one is with the popup headlights but i knew a guy that had one and it was quick.....I SAY.....RACE and see |
I own a N/A 91 MR2 and I own currently a 05 si. The Mr2 is faster. Iv driven both many times and had my firend drive my the Mr2 i drove the si, its real close id say depending on the driver. But its a close which is faster!! |
get a 3sgte motor swap.. ive driven one and they are pretty impressive, handling is good too. |
I've ran a 5sp turbo mr2 with no exhaust and walked it prety bad in the si, then I ran a non turbo w/intake, header and exhaust and it was a lot closer but he still lost by at least a car if ur gonna go with the mr2 swap in the solara/camry v6 motor and supercharge it, there was one in the USCC, put on by sport compact car mag every year, and it blew away the competition hardcore |

No it was turbo u could hear it spoolin and it has a weak ass BOV ,it was 2 cars from 20-80 which is prety bad, but then I've raced another turbo one that was fast as crap it just depends on what it has done but stock there not that quick I'd say mid 15s at best... I've seen a red one at the track that ran low 11s in the 1/4th so they deffinatly have potential |
i have beaten more than a few na mr2's in my ex NA |
a stock mr2 turbo runs in the mid 14's... |
dont flame me here....lol......i thought the fi mr2 here was supercharged? the 200 hp one :/ sorry if im wrong though, as for the Si vs. Mr2, i take the Si since the Mr2 is n/a |
Definately the Si :_ontome: |
this morning i had a little run wth my friends 1989 Mister 2, even if your an automatic 4 speed, it wont be to difficult, i would know. |
stock mr2's are low-mid 15's driven right stock. they do better in the 1/8 mile cause of the rwd. they don't have much top end power though. (stock) modded they can be VERY quick. much faster then if you were to mod the SI. (turbo models) check out www.mr2oc.com you'll find alot of useful info over there. |
