Who would win both being manual the civic not being v tec just the lx both 2001? Has any one raced a Focus Zx3 Hatchback? are they fast at all?

if equal drivers, u might lose..... any modifications?

well actually i got a lot of shit and he has exhaust i have the Aem pulleys the Aem v2 intake, custom exhaust with dual outlets obx headers Venom control module 400 and wanna get the cam gear but my car is crashed gonna take 2 months to fix and i think he has Hks exhaust cat back

What engine does he have? What year is it?

2.3L PZEV I4

Either way, I'd say he has the advantage stock. Even with the mods, if it's the PZEV, I'd say you're in trouble assuming equal driver's, but I think you'd have a decent chance if it's the Zetec.

Yeah, the 2.3L isn't too shabby. The 2.3L (also used in the Mazda 3 and 6) became an option 2003, so if it's older than that, I believe it would have to be the 2.0.

ok i am pretty sure it isnt a 2004 because it looks older and didn't look to fast when i saw him floor it.

yeah he's right, with both cars your gonna have some worries, but with the pzev, thats gonna be some hell. You might get em with the zetec motor, but the pzev is much different. Good luck.

He has the 2.0L w/ 130hp, because I know someone who has one and he has an 02'. You'll probably win if you drive decent. I lost to him by a hair when I was bone stock. He had cold air intake and custom exhaust at the time.

i took my buddy in his dads 99 auto zx3 ztec, i beat him by about a car when all i had was my vtec d17a2 motor and rims w/r-rated tires.

oh btw, we are both 5spd.

The manual's are much faster. Ford auto's generally suck. The Mustang's new 5-speed auto is an exception, but in general.

I raced by brother's 02 ZX3 5 speed and with my V2 intake he still beat me. We lined up 3 times and every time he'd always get me off the line (I suppose it's the torque advantage). Anyways, he'd get about 1 car length ahead, and then I'd stay right with him. On the highway though, at about 90+ I consistently pull on him, and once I hit 110 its all over.

I can pretty much vouch for that. Thats about the most accurate post I've seen on this thread yet. It was almost pretty much the same with me and my friend with his N/A ZX3 when I was stock. They're not bad at all from a dig for what they are. They seem to be slugs in 4th and 5th.

Yea I got a 2002 Civic LX all stock and i raced my friends 2002 focus with zetec and intake.... and i beat the shit out of him.....

are they auto or manual?

Stock vs. Stock, the ZX3 is faster, especially if it has the 2.3L Duratec with ~150hp. However, it's still a driver's race and anyone could win. Oh, and the engine is the 2.0 Zetec Engine, not a 2.0 engine W/ Zetec. It doesn't HAVE Zetec, it IS Zetec.

I used to drive an 01 focus zx3 all motor zetec 2.0L engine. I dismantled civics. ate them up like pancakes. the 01-05 civics had nothing on my lil focus hatch. I even took si's. the coupes and the new hatch's. The focus hatch would murder a civic any day.

01 05 would be drivers race, si would rape you left and right. usually me and bgotez disagree on some things but your not telling it straight. i agree with him. ANY si would kill a 2.0 hatch focus. the 2.3 against an any si would be drivers race. but the SI's depending on which year you care to mention, weigh differntly. 99-00 would own you. newer ones would be drivers race. and the 06s would leave you in last week.
