i got them on, no too satisfied about the look or the ride, first of all it shakes a lot and i took it back to the place they mounted and balance them and they re do it right in front of me so it's not balance, i really dont know what it is. and the look, it looks like a mounster truck cuz of its height!! i need an urgent drop but tires are 225/40/18 so i really dont now if i'm going to be able to drop it with little cash!! u know what i mean...:_disgust: but anywayz chek it out!

looks fine, needs a drop tho, but if ur shaking, u need a rebalance, find a place that has a hunter road force balancer, one of ur tires might not be seated all the way, it does happen with low pro's and big rims, specially if u dont balance with a road force balancer, it wont pick it up, id get em checked

rims looks good from far away. wont hurt to get a better close up. as for a drop eibach prokit is the best route for you since you have a pinch in money. but once it start saggin, OUCH for the rubbin later on....

Ebay for Eibach Pro Kit...I paid 150 shipped for all. Nice 1 inch drop all around.

Be careful with your drop on those tires. You are going to have crazy rubbing issues. I had a buddy with that same size wheel/tire combo, and he was barely dropped at all and rubbed over almost everything.

If they balanced your tires, and they are sure its correct, get the car aligned.

Nice rims! but 40 seems like an awfully big profile for and 18" rim it probably won't look so monster truck if you go with a lower profile tire but if you do that you are going to get a much harsher ride from the lower profile i would go with what every one else is saying drop it an inch on sports springs

tinting the windows and blacking out the headlights are a few cheap mods you should do to help give the car a matching color scheme. The wheels only look out of place because of how painfully stock the rest of the car looks. Don't rush into lowering the car on a low budget, figure out exactly the type of suspension you want, save up for it, and buy it later. Take it from me, 3 different setups and a ton of wasted cash later, i finally have what i want.

just realized you're in germantown, im there every thursday taking an accounting class at MC. You should come out to one of the get togethers we have in rockville every once in a while.

does anybody knows or have tryied these cheap 29.99 ebay colilovers (i'll put the link up) on stock shoks? because i thought about trying them temporarily until i save up for a good kit. i dont care about the stock shocks cuz i'll get a full kit when im ready for it. i just spended too much money on rims and new tires now saving up for a susp kit will take me a while. (full time student and worker) is it a bad temporary idea?

Re: little by little!!!

honestly you get what you pay for, DO NOT BUY THOSE!!!! i promise they will be a headache to install, maybe they wont sit on teh strut properly or they will ride like shit. if your tite on money you dont need to spend crazy on full coilover set up but for the sack of god please just save 300$ and get springs you will be much happier even without the height adjustment. As for the tires no offence but BAD call. I have 18's on my civic (love them wouldnt go any smaller, actually going to 19's) and i run a 215/35/18 and its the shit. my rims are 7.5" wide and 35+ offset and with these tires the guy selling me them didnt think they would fit and said i couldnt get my money back if they rubbed. Well anyways when they were mounted up i could pull u-turns and no rubbing anywhere. Anyways to make a long story short, i ended up putting tein flex on my ride nad slammed it so its pretty much as low as i can go before any incline becomes a mountain! with a good alignment i can still crank the wheel to the full turn and do donuts with no rubbing and my car is slammed on 18's so dont downsize to 17s, if you sell your tires buy 215/35/18 you will be happy. it will also make your car look lower with a smaller profile and rims bigger. SHitty ride no doubt but honestly my stiff suspension doesnt help. The ride is nothing you cant get used to i dont even notice, its the passangers bitching that get me more aggrivated lol. Live with the rough ride and ball out!

bomerman19 11-14-2007 12:37 PM

Re: little by little!!!

Yeah stay away from those ebay coil overs those are actually slip ons and they will give you a really bouncy crappy ride and you will be so unhappy that you wasted the time and money trying to stick those things.

Listen to Edwin (Skipbarber) don't go cheap on your suspension save up take your time and then decide what you want, and do it right. You will be a lot happier in the long run.

I took my time with my suspension and it's perfect I would not change a thing. I'm running Tokico D-Specs with progress sports spring 2" drop in the back and 1.8" in the front with front and rear sway bars. It looks good and it rides great.

If you ever want a ride to see how mine looks/handles just hit me up some time I'm just down in Arlington; Germantown is not to far of a drive for me.

Skoot... From where did you get the Eibachs for $150 shipped? New?

familycar 11-15-2007 10:36 AM

Re: little by little!!!

dont sell em, i run 225/40/18's on my car with eibach prokits and it not only rides great but doesnt rub accept at full lock. you will need to shave down the rear fender lip al ittle but that is easy as well. check out some of my pics and attachments of my car. i really like the set up i have because i have little wheel well bgap and it isnt so low that i scrape on anything. I had the progress springs on before and they were a lot lower and i would scrape my greddy evo2 everywhere. but with the prokits its perfect.
dont change just get the right spring set up

https://www.civicforums.com/forums/h...mageuser=25416

the first few you will see are with the prokits, the older pics at the end are with the progress springs

Here's a stupid question... are you sure you put your wheels on correctly? What I mean is, you tighten the lugnuts diagonal from each other slowly right? Maybe that's why your car trembles and stuff.

yeah after they did it the first time i took it back the next day to rebalance all the tires, after that i cheked one by one myself... i think its probably the fact that i haven't done alignment to it! lets see after alignment haw it comes out...

that is normal for them to be plastic.

Your going to rub like an SOB with a 1.3-1.4" drop. its going to settle and be lower. i dont know why you dont listen to people that have the experience rather than someone with none:_doh: . your choice but your not going to like the way it rides or drives with such a low drop. it will look great but its going to be a SOB to deal with. the prokits are supposed to be a .8" drop and settle to around 1-1.2". those teins will end up being about a 1.7-1.8" drop total. especially with stock shocks. you WILL rub gauranteed even if you shave the lips and you also wont be able to run a camber kit in the rear because the tires will have to tuck into the fender on bump travel.

i have changed my suspension 3 times already. its not cheap.

#1. i know its not cheap (tell ME about it)
#2. look what it says about prokit's drop does it says 1" drop or 1.3" drop??? that's what im looking at so with the settle it'll be the same as tains! :sweet: "http://www.truehonda.com/inventory.php?action=productdetail&id=21

#3. i want to go as low as i can with my huge tires and i think prokits leave too much wheel gap.

honest to god, i have no experience at all with suspension, that's why i opened this forum. i apreciate yours and all of everybodies information and i do listen but im looking for something to get me lower than prokits! i know you have experience, you even have my same wheel size. im not trying to waste nobodies time anwsering my questions but i just want to get to the right place and not change my suspension 3 times because i wont like it. u get me?:hgrin:

familycar 11-16-2007 04:14 PM

Re: little by little!!!

i completely understand, but with your tire and wheel size you chose you will not be able to have the everyday drivability with a lower drop. the prokits used to claim a .8" drop. i guess they finally realized it settles to 1.0-1.2". anything lower than that and you will eat through tires because you cant have a camber kit or the wheel will hit the fender. you will have to have negative camber in order for the wheel to tuck. also you will lose about 20% of your turning radius due to fender rub.

uruguayanboy 11-16-2007 04:32 PM

so you say that prokits will let me have camber kit on all 4 tires and keep me turning all the way?

you will have slight rub only @ full lock with prokits, i dont even run a camber kit at all and my tires go for 25-30k dependant on brand and model. i have -.4 to -.5* on all 4 wheels. i am on my 2nd set of tires since i got my prokits and have put about 52kmiles and still have plenty of tread left and tire wear is great. I had to purchase the tires in front and rear this time due to funds and when i got rear the set installed after 7k on the front they didnt even want to rotate them because there was barely any wear(goodyear gforce tires). I made them anyway but they didnt need it

i would hate to see you spend more money than needed, that is why i am so persistant. i would not be offended if youdid not take my advice but if you had problems i would say "i told you so". talk to a few other of the suspension gurus around here like skip barber. you will be told that a camber kit should be used and i am sure i may get a few thousand more miles out of my tire than what i get, but its not enough for me to fiddle with, the wear is great and so is the ride. i remember when i had the progress springs on i would scrape everywhere, and i couldnt even think about running a lip kit of any sort, now with the prokits i can run my cf type r lip with enough ground clearance not to scrape everywhere but also with enough of a drop to get rid of wheel gap and still look sporty.

hey do you think i could go lower if i sell my tires and get lower profile like 35? will the ride be shitty

Re: little by little!!!

damn...you should be running 30 or 35 sidewalls... 40 is wayy to big...

im running 45sides on my 16" rims...and you have 18"

ultimatetuner10 11-16-2007 11:28 PM

Re: little by little!!!

Yea man. I usually dont like 18s on civics, and that stays true here, but if you want to keep them, get a lower sidewall tire...35 or so. Yes the ride will suffer, but you are still on a stock suspension which is soft-ish so you wont notice much more than your car pulling left and right like a mother from every imperfection in the road, and you will have a higher chance of bending a rim if you hit something bad enough at a high enough speed...ive done that with 205 40 17s. You gotta make the choice. You can keep your car the way it is (it seems like its going for the look of a donk but not quite there), or you can get smaller tires. Also, take into account that we have little power as it is. By throwing on a big 18" wheel that is heavy as well, you are increasing the rotational mass quite a bit, and it will affect acceleration, speed, mpg, speedo accurancy, etc.etc. You may also (and this is a slim chance) put more wear and tear on your transmission internals from the extra weight they have to turn: remember our transmission is tiny compared to the SUVs where you can get away with 24-26" oversized wheels and weight makes no difference because of the abundance of torque. Thats why I am not a fan of 18s, or 17s even (and i have them). There is a reason why the majority of the Honda scene is now using 15s or 16s. They look good on lowered cars, but are usually light enough so you dont lose too much power, sometimes they are lighter and it actually frees up a few ponies. If you can get good money back, definately sell them and get something smaller, and it will also allow you to go lower with the car without having to do so much excess work...

FGCOUPE 11-16-2007 11:42 PM

Re: little by little!!!

first thing that jumps to mind when using anything lower then a 40 series is when you hit a pot hole.....thatll slam the rim if hit hard enough.
Even a 40 could possibly damage the rim on a bad pothole, but yea...hmm
