99 Civic Ex Seden with mods - 123k Miles..

Im very interested in this car, its exactly what I wanted. (This will be my first car) The thing is.. its got hella of miles on it?
They want 9k.. I figure I can get that down to about 8 something or a straight 8k. The engine has some mods.. more done to it then I know. It looks like the guy was a racer and got repoed  Anyways.. Black 99 Civic Ex Seden with engine mods, Exhast, Lowered, Nice Cd Player, 123k miles, very clean (Only one power door lock is dead, no biggy) 8,350k is what im going to try and get? Good deal? This is thro some used car dealer? Is that bad? Im = Noob. He sounded like he trusted the car, I asked if I could take to my mechanic and he said yep go ahead. Havent yet because I dont have a mechanic! :p

CenZ 11-11-2005 11:45 AM

9K? wtf. it aint worth it. at least i dont think so, even with mods.

quick question why would you post on a 7th gen forum about a 6th gen?

but anyway, yeah i dont think its worth 9k or even 8. at most 5k...

chrisleecool 11-11-2005 11:46 AM

what the...don't buy it man haha that's all i'm gonna say

bluestreak 11-11-2005 11:50 AM

buy a used 7th gen for about the same cash....

Aynatix 11-11-2005 11:52 AM

Opps I thought this was the gen. section.. my bad. Not a good buy? I checked the Kelly Blue Book and it said the price would be around 8k? I heard hondas were good for 300k miles lol? I dont think I can get a 7th from a dealer at that price? I have no money to buy from a owner.. plus the banks wont loan me shit.

I got a 2001 Civic LX with less then half the miles (50k) for $8,000... You're getting ripped off like crazy.

Aynatix 11-11-2005 12:07 PM

Ok.. shit. Well im going back at 3:00 pm to have another look with my brother in law. Knowing all this? Should I try and get it for 6k down? No MORE? or just walk away from this?

soonercivic 11-11-2005 12:16 PM

Walk away. I would never buy a modded car anyway, you dont know how much it may have been abused before. Yeah a honda will last you a long time, but not if you dont take care of it. Walk away, get a used 7thgen.

xxsleepyxx 11-11-2005 12:34 PM

i got a 02 lx with 8500k on it for $9800

Kyle23 11-11-2005 12:37 PM

buying a modded car is typically a bad idea cuz that usually means that they beat on the car a little which would make it less relaible. Obtain all service records if possible and find out all of the mods that he has done to that car and all that r currently on it. 9k = no way. maybe 8 but i dont think u will get it for 6k. u cant negotiate 1/3 of the price of the car exspecially when it is only 9k!

bOoStEd042dr 11-11-2005 12:46 PM

don't do it....that's a waste

zen_master 11-11-2005 12:48 PM

again, DON'T do it!

it's definitely a waste of money...........

heck, you can get 2000SI (50K+) with that amount of money.....

get a used 7thgen, buddy :)

Aynatix 11-11-2005 12:49 PM

No deal for the 99 civic im not going back. Thanks for the replys!
I just talked to my sister and she is going to try and get me a loan for 11k (Co-Sign)
Im going to try and find a 7th gen. Whats a good price for 02 Seden Ex? Say 55k Miles?
I can look at owners now so maybe ill be able to find a good deal.

zen_master 11-11-2005 12:52 PM

hehehe. you just made a very good decision, buddy.

btw, try to get 03 with OK mileage (50+) with GOOD deal......trust me, they're out there....just make sure to check everything though, hehe

if not, then get 01-02....

Should I look more towards owners or dealers? Yes Yes 03's are nice.

zen_master 11-11-2005 01:01 PM

ehm.........if you want to play safe, check the dealership first.....maybe get that automotive free booklet from grocery store and look around.....

honda dealer might not be your best case since they tend to overprice the used cars with their "certified" thingie...

i bought mine from local toyota dealer.....they put my 02 civic on the booklet 2 years ago at 24K miles (now 39K).....

sincethey're not a honda dealer, they can't put that "certified" thingie on the hondas......hence, cheaper price..... finally, if you really interested in that car, come to that dealership many times a week....talk to the same sales person and possibly the used manager too..

try to convince them that u really like that honda and want to get it with "Gooood" price.....hehehehe...

i got approximately $1000 discount by just doing that...bothering them for about 2 or 3 weeks....(patience, my friend)

alas, private party is good too....but i think it's very though to find people who's willing to sell their lovely civic with "good" price nowadays....

yourinmyw0rld 11-11-2005 01:04 PM

Look more towards owner its going to be cheaper the the dealer

Agreed, I wouldnt buy a modded car..

Mutha Fn FBM 85 11-11-2005 06:06 PM

Screw private party cars. I just took off my bumper to put my grill on and everythings messed up. The headlights aren't even the same.. :hithead:

Al Gore FTW 11-11-2005 07:10 PM

good call on not buying it. my friend got a 2000 dx coupe with 38k miles on it in 2002 for 7800 dollars. that was 3 years ago. anyways, get a 7thgen, you should be able to find something reasonable.
