ppl with vis oem cf hoods dont flame...but are hood pins needed that bad? like will the hood blow off down the interstate? who all dont got hood pins and do u have any probs. thx |
I don't have a CF hood, but I'd get a set just to be safe. |
From what I have read as long as it the oem and you can use the OEM latch and all you ahould be ok. I dont have one, but I'd kinda like to know the same thing. Thats just what I have read. |
I wouldnt say that they are nesessary b/c vis does provide a hood latch, but I would consider them reccomended. They will add security plus they look awesome. |
VIS states that if you use their hoods, you will not need to use hoodpins. I would reccomend using them though, 120 mph+ runs can get a little windy :D |
Ya, when I had mine on without hoodpins it scared me to death driving down the highway. There is nothing like seeing your hood flapping in the wind. It was just not stable enough for me. Hood pins definitely solved that. By the way, I had a VIS oem cf hood on my 02 ex. |
I dunno i had a VIS and no hood pines it worked fien for me, their the best hood i never had any problems |
thx for the input guys....just switched to this hood from a kaminari and I dont think ill use the pins cause it dont looks as clean |
i have one and i'm not using hood pins. the reason why it shakes is becuz you have to adjust hte latch and the black rubber thingies in the engine bay to make your hood sit tight. but get them if you drive over 100 all the time, which you shouldn't by the way but yeah. i dont' have one on mine but i did have them before. same thing, but is recommended if your that scared |
had one for more than a year and half and never needed hood pins. just make sure it latches firmly and ur fine. |
I have hood pins on mine hood. I don't think you really need them but they kind of give them a distinct look. http://www.7thgencivic.com/forums/at...hmentid=42135] http://www.7thgencivic.com/forums/at...hmentid=42137] http://www.7thgencivic.com/forums/at...hmentid=42134] http://www.7thgencivic.com/forums/at...hmentid=42136] |
ive had my hood for over a year, no problems. But...it does scare me at 80+....it wobbles bad |
Yeah I dont care how good you latch it, it is going to wobble at high speeds obviously more than your stock hood. If you are comfortable with that, then don't worry about hood pins. Sure, people don't usually have problems with it flying off or anything. |
2 weeks ago while going up north i decided to top out my car since it was a straight road and no cars, i topped out my car going 127 and i forgot i even had a CF hood, i was going 100+ for a good 20-30 seconds. i wouldnt worry abot it to much. o yah and mine is VIS also |
negative...hoodpins are not necessairy its just the hooditself...you never know if it was produced with the Exact same quality as the one before it... i mean some are better/stronger than others I myself have driven my hood to 120+mph and there was no shaking ratteling or ripping off of any kind :) (for research purposes ofcourse) |
