Ground Control with OEM top hats ?

Hi !

I have a civic 05 coupe reverb matched with koni yellow and eibach sportline.

The quality ride is excellent !:), but I want go more lower.

I want to buy a set of sleeve Ground Control.

I know that I need a specific kit which fit only on the koni yellow

I thing the kit that i need is the number 4534.02, but I'm not sure.

I want know if the OEM top hats fit on the sleeve or I need some modification.

I find the spring rate
375 for the front
425 for the rear.

Is it to much for the koni yellow ? too much for the street ?

Thanks a lot to help me. I have a lot interogation ;)

If you use the correct GC kit you will be able to use your stock top hat

Thanks for your response !
I try to send message at Ground Control, but I'm not able. I just one to be sure.

And for the spring rate is it too much for the yellow or the yellow are able to handle this rate ?

I saw that on Web site of Ground control.

http://www.ground-control-store.com/...p/II=523/CA=55

this kit ( # 4534 ) is for the stock shock and the tokico
I need the kit # 4534.02 for the koni yellow. I do a lot of research to find this information.

do you have a picture of your car slammed of 3.5 inch ?

Very nice drop ! I think it's more than 2,5 ! ;)
You, did you use your OEM top Hats ? They handle the ride or you need to change the bearing at each year ?

yes, i used stock top hats. i have an 01 so i had plastic bearings. they dont last long in general no matter what struts/springs you have. i upgraded to the 03+ top hats/bearings. they are bigger and better made.

stock 01 plastic bearings:

and 2.5" ? haha...im more along the lines of 3.5" (which is the minimal clearance i can get away with getting out of my drive way. id go lower but id rip my front off. and by no means do i have a steep driveway.

I'm happy to know that the 03-05 bearing are better good.
I have a 05.

I was hesitate to buy lengthen top hats, but I thing that I will try with the OEM.

how dou you find the ride ? very stiff ? bouncy ?
that do a long time that you run this setup ?

On hondatech, they said that yellow/GC is a very good setup.

Your drop is very nice ! I want it like that.

In the front, the tire rub on the plastic fender ? or you just remove it ? :p

Re: Ground Control with OEM top hats ?

I have GC/yellow. The ride excellent. Their dampening system is very precise. On full soft, tr ride is almost OEM quality but not as bouncy/sloppy.

On full stiff your car is ultra firm and is COMPLETLY noticible but to be honest full stuff isn't bad. I daily drive on full stiff.

Here's some food for though. Koni yellows are one of the few "affordable" strut companies that have specific valving for their specific application.

Thanks a lot for your help.
I'ts really aprecitated ;)
I succed to found de spirngh rate of de GC --» 375 for the front and 425 for the rear.

I think it's a really good rate for daily !

with this hard drop, I supose that you need run camber kit in the front and in the rear for don't pass a set of tire at each year ? :p

Re: Ground Control with OEM top hats ?

yes. i have a front SPC camber bolt...however, i would stay away from SPC/ingalls REAR camber kit.

the SPC/ingalls rear camber kit tends to rust like crazy and their rubber doesnt last too long (mine rusted to hell and the rubber bushings on them only lasted about 15k on my car.

i changed out the rear camber kit with ksport one. its aluminium/steel construction and their rubber bushing is much more stiff. ive had them on my car for 2 years now with about 28k miles on them without any problems. they still look brand new.

note: it says RSX/DC5 but they are interchangeable for our civics (01-05)
