sway bar question . .

if i purchase the rsx-s sway bar rear, for my car and leave the front oem, will it mess up my suspension? is it worth just changing the rear and leaving the front as is or will there be problems in the future? thanks

btw, by changing the rear, is there a noticeable feeling? thanks

i'm about to purchase one, would like to know if it's good

K20me 09-27-2005 09:20 PM

No, you'll be fine. The bigger rear sway will decrease understeer. There won't be problems in the future, and yes, there is a noticeable difference between the 13mm OEM and the 19mm RSX rear sway bars.

Ashhole 09-27-2005 09:26 PM

are the RSX bars just the OEM bars of the car? and they direct fit ours already?

btw, i know nothing abotu sway bars

CLeeNx04CiVic 09-27-2005 09:34 PM

the 19mm sway bar hes talking about does come from the RSX's and they are a direct bolt on...it really does improve handling...

Ashhole 09-27-2005 09:40 PM

hmm anyone got a price? and do most people get the new, or from salvage yards?

zachgeyer 09-27-2005 10:08 PM

I got mine from the "for sale" forum on this site. Here's one for example.........

bamb00 09-28-2005 02:18 AM

i got mine for $80 CDN two years ago. the bar comes from rsx TYPE-S

DaSilverCivic 09-28-2005 08:13 PM

oweeeeeeeee . . . thanks thanks. "ferio" from this site is selling his for those interested, unless sold already. i was going to purchase from him but issues came along that made me decline (had to bail out boy from a hold 'em tournament raid). from my understanding he said 50 shipped so i pretty much think that it's a bangin' deal.

ferio 09-28-2005 09:07 PM

^^ thanks for the free advertisement! it's already been sold though.. this was my best suspension mod.. im sure going to miss it.. oh well

vietstylez 09-28-2005 09:14 PM

they are more expensive....u can usually pick up an rsx sway bar for like 50 bucks....thats a great deal for the performance upgrade

Axxe 09-28-2005 10:05 PM

Unless you don't have a factory rear sway bar, in that case you need the progress kit.

mrDFWmechanic 09-29-2005 02:47 PM

they are always for sale on the clubrsx.com forums or go on ebay

mrDFWmechanic 09-29-2005 02:49 PM

or sometimes you can find a good price on the itr 22 mm bar here's a link

ill be enjoying your sway bar.
laters

civic-king 09-29-2005 04:35 PM

go with a type R sway. it usually costs like $10 more, but it's worth it. I think it's 21mm. just don't buy anything over a 24 mm. the front sway is 24.5 mm (1 in) and you don't want your rear larger than your front, unless you don't turn much. you will create oversteer that way. unless thats what your going for.

hahaha! you will be enjoying it in 4-10 days! i hope you like it... pm me if you need help installing it!

Ashhole 09-29-2005 10:08 PM

so our stock front sways are 24.5mm?

not all of them. 01-02 have 24.5mm in front 03 and up are much smaller, i cant remember the excat number. For 99% of daily driving the 19mm rear is fine. Anything bigger could get you into trouble if you do the wrong thing at the wrong time (oversteer to people that havent experienced it can be a dangerous thing)

-edit-the front oem bar on 03s and up is 15.9

1. its under the car, you can't see shit. So the looks of it is irrelevant
2. Buying performance parts that look pretty defeats the purpose of buying performance parts because they work.
3. The Progress bar has a dimensional error in it that causes it to break endlinks at an alarming rate. Buy either the Honda ITR bar, or the Comptech 22mm bar (which is a carbon copy of the ITR bar).

hmm ok. i got an 01, so im not gonna mess with that then. Is the Nuespeed rear sway worht the money? or would i be better off gettin the RSX and buyin the tie bar seperately?

MisterFrankieJ 09-29-2005 10:39 PM

IMO the neuspeed rear sway is totally not worth the money. Many other of the hardcore suspension/autocross/track guys (boilermaker, zzyzx, rob) would probably agree. About the tie bar....Im pretty sure zzyzx doesn't run one and hasn't broken or torn anything and boilermaker1 is running a $20 diy one so if you really want one buy it but IMO not necessary. I've been running the rsx bar for awhile so has my friend ojay and we have had no problems with no tie bar.

1. my friend had one and everytime i was behind him i could see it clearly.. i see it on other cars all the time, i think its very nice.
2. i asked if it worked well cause i'd rather have something that performs well AND looks nice to something that just works well and looks dull.
3. this is the only information that was actually useful to me thanks

Yea I have contacts all the way from japan that are shipping me this bar now. It is a cheap and great mod dude!

You want the bars too?

Ashhole 09-30-2005 12:01 AM

Well my $5 DIY one is probably stronger than anything they sell.... its a solid 1" bar of Chrome Moly. Problem is I broke a Spoon bar to figure that out... so I guess its really a $135 DIY bar, but either way... I think the subframe is strong enough to take it. I've yet to see a single tearout.

You see the tie bar, not the swaybar. Just paint a $10 ebay one silver... same effect. Who cares what it looks like. I painted mine orange just so it looks stupider.
