should I worry.

I just got some ground controls on my vic, and I hear a noise coming from the rear left side suspension everytime I break. Should I worry about this? or is it that I just have to wait until the new springs settle in.

what kind of sound is it?

04rscivic 08-12-2005 04:09 PM

its a squeeking sound.

sweeteli99 08-12-2005 04:12 PM

hmm, might be the springs settling still..

04rscivic 08-12-2005 04:16 PM

okay, then i wont worry.

i have the same ground control kit on my car, never had that problem, but i would worry about it, try jacking that side up and make sure that the spring is in the right position,
did you put it on yourself or get someone to do it for you?

There is no "right position"
Its a racing spring, it has 2 flat ends.

The spring won't make noise unless its rubbing on something. So its either rubbing the collar because its not centered, or the poly seat on top of it is making noise.
I'd bet on the latter... especially if you didn't trim the molding flash off of it before you installed it. if it fits tight in the upper hat, I almost guarantee thats your noise.

Moving to suspension....

it's probably rubbing. i had the same problem with my gc's. when i bought mine, which was when they first came out, they came with a urethane bushing that sits above the spring. with the compression, the spring rubbed against the urethan bushing and created a squeaking sound. i believe the new gc's come with a plastic replacement that should eliminate the sound.
