robbclark1 12-16-2004 08:50 PM

so i dont need to compress the spring before i put on the 01 bearing and upper mount? It seems kinda loose ( i am trying to drop it quite a bit, is that the reason it looks so loose?)

when you take off the bolt that holds them on, make sure its not going towards anything....just in case it shoots off. me and my friend did my springs and it shot off a lil...just be careful

There is a DIY from Mex in this forum. Use the search feature and search for the user Mex in just the suspension form. There is a little video of how he has done it.

Here in Canada me and my bud borrowed this from our local harware shop "Canadian Tire", they lent it to us for free.

Full coilovers shouldn't require a spring compressor, but if you're getting Tein SPRINGS (not full coilover i.e. Tein Basic, Tein Flex, Tein SS), then it is recommended you use a spring compressor, but not necessarily a "must have."

nindoo 12-17-2004 09:32 AM

^^^^ yeah I've never installed coilovers so It might not be needed. But this spring compressor thing helped when I replaced my friends shocks.

exturbo6 12-17-2004 10:03 AM

i never used a compressor to install mine...and they were fine...

If you are doing a full coilover setup, you should not need a compressor. You will pull your stock setup out and replace it with the full coilovers. No need to take the factory springs off of the oem shocks.
