tires for new 16 inch wheels

i'm ordering some 5zigen fighters and am going to need some good tires to go on them. However, i'm having trouble deciding on what size i need. The rims are 16x7 and my car will soon be lowered about 2 inches. I don't want the tires to look too small and want the max protection for my rims but also don't want to have to worry about rubbing. Any good tire models would also be awesome. Thanks

205/50/16

thats the recommended size that was for my honda fp rims...

Mr.Modify 12-29-2004 04:30 PM

yea 205/50/16 Falken Ziex 512's :sweet:

CuRiOuSfIsH 12-30-2004 12:43 AM

^^^ what Mr. Modify said!

matt86 12-30-2004 05:22 PM

for 17's would 205/45/17's work?

yuup.... tire calculator

205/50 16. If money isn't an issue, go for the Bridgestone Poteza S-03. I had the S-02 on my Prelude & it was probably the best street performance tires I've ever tried & the S-03 have a better wet traction than the S-02.

If money is an issue then I would recommend the Fuzion ZRi. In my opinion, that's the best bang for the buck. It's an excellent performance tires for its price.

Oh & those are summer tires. It doesn't have any snow traction what so ever.

I think 205/55 would work too

CuRiOuSfIsH 12-31-2004 03:42 PM

^^^ it would.... there isnt a tire size for 16 inch rims that will be exactly the same as stock, 205/55 and 205/50 work...... just that 205/50 is closer and smaller.... which has slightly better benefits = )

if u go 205/15/17 for 17s, wont ur speed reading get screwed? And wont u have to lower even more then u where going to at first with 215.

WannaBFast 01-01-2005 01:28 PM

i think he meant 205/45/17

i dont think they make a 15 series tire.. anywhere..

chocobo15_2000 01-01-2005 02:17 PM

would 215/50/16 work?? or does the overall dimension change if u use 215?

i like my tires wide, and not too low profile-ish, or maybe 205/55/16?? would that work??

both would work. and be pretty similar. i have 205/55/16 tires, only gripe is with a lowered suspension i need a tiny bit of negative camber to avoid rubbing. i rolled my fender a tad also to help. dropped around 1.5 inches in the back on rsx eibach pro kit w/ civic konis.

I would go with a 205/45/16 Yokohama AVS ES 100 tire. You wont be off on milage reading that much (I think 50 miles for every 1000, or 500 every 10000) plus it will look really nice. Of course, I dont think a 5% difference is bad.

BigDaddyHonda 01-02-2005 06:19 AM

When I run the 16's on my car, I run 205/50-16 Yokohama AVS ES-100 tires and they are just right for our Civics.

Not too tall to rub if the car is lowered...
Not too short to skew the speedometer error really bad...

The Yokos are a good mid-priced summer (not all-season!) tire. If you get a lot of snow, either get an all season tire or keep the factory junk wheels/tires on from December thru March :)

Yea, im getting motegi ff6 16", and im thinking of getting Falken Ziex 205/50/16.
