Correct oil pan??

Hi All, I am new to the forum as I recently purchased a 2002 Civic EX. It came with an oil leak and after a little investigation it appears the pan was replaced with a stamped steel Spectra Premium HOP12A pan.
I can see the oil creeping from the front of the motor and all the pan bolts are wet with oil on the rear side.
Digging a little deeper I understand that the EX models came with an aluminum pan and mounts to the transmission.
Does anyone have any experience with the aftermarket pan and offer advice on sealing it correctly or would I be better off replacing the pan with the correct aluminum one?
Thanks in advance for the help!

Re: Correct oil pan??

What is the engine number stamped on the block?
D17A1 or D17A2?

Re: Correct oil pan??

The sticker on the front of the timing belt cover says D17A2.

Not a sticker on the timing cover, I mean stamped into the block near the trans.

Attachment 90556

Thanks Ezone,

Definitely D17A2 stamped on the block.

Re: Correct oil pan??

So it's the correct D17A2 engine block I assume, the A2 should have the aluminum pan, not steel.

I think there's probably a couple support brackets and some fasteners that may be missing, they would go between the bellhousing and pan.

I wonder if someone used all the extra long bolts in the steel pan LOL

Thanks for your help!

I'll see if I can find one with all the brackets I need.
