How To Reset Power Window Controller Does the 7th gen civic even have a power window controller? I have an '02 LX 4-door. I just replaced the driver side rear power window motor which had failed. Now the window works as follows: Driver side rear door closed: Driver switch doesn't work. Rear passenger switch only makes the window go down. If I then open the rear door, both switches work in that they can make the window go up or down. When I close the door again, the rear passenger switch again can only make the window go down, but not up. Hence I think the controller is confused. Anybody know how to reset it, other than disconnecting the battery? Thanks! |

No reset, no control unit other than the master switch. Sounds like....Wire broken (either brown/white or brown wire) in the rear door harness where it flexes in the door jamb. Peel back the rubber covering to find the broken wire... Replace harness for left rear door. Based on your suggestions, some preliminary tests seem to verify that it is indeed a wiring issue. (Too bad I just replaced the motor, I should have been more thorough) I'll have to do some more experimenting/testing but I'll report back what I find. |
Re: How To Reset Power Window Controller Update: Based on your advice I removed the wiring harness to inspect/test it. While doing so 4 of the 5 wires broke clean off. I removed the fatigued sections on all 5 wires and spliced them back together. Re-installed and the window is now working fine. Thanks again for the help! |
