D17A1 swap into an EX that had a VTEC D17A2? I bought what I thought was a used VTEC (D17A2) engine but my mechanic found out it doesn't have the oil solenoid for the VTEC and says it's not a VTEC Engine. So it seems I bought D17A1 (arggh) He also said something about the solenoid holds the bracket that attaches to____ but that it's not an issue if I want to put the D17A1 in. So what are the implications of putting a D17A1 into my 2003 EX that had a D17A2? I read about limp mode but not sure what that means? No rpm over 3.5/4k? So no acceleration? I'm also concerned about emissions test failure therefore not passing inspection. Any insights and help is appreciated. |
