Tinted my whole windshield today 13%

Actually my friend tinted it for me. It turned out great and its nice and dark.
The pics aren't the best but you get the point.

FURY 02-23-2002 08:13 PM

Woa

it looks like you replaced your windshield with a big piece of black plastic

whowhatwhoa 02-23-2002 08:31 PM

it looks clean and nice but have fun driving at nite also hope cops aren't As$holes in ur area

DaveyD 02-23-2002 08:33 PM

Get ready to get pulled over because I think that is kind of illegal.

AzNmiKex215 02-23-2002 08:47 PM

night rider style... very cool.. but very illegal..
why all the kool stuff in life gotta be againts the law?

Greg 02-23-2002 08:51 PM

Driving at night wont be a problem. This is my 4th car with this done. The cops on the other hand are pricks. I have been pulled over twice for my side windows and havent got a ticket, yet.

fraga 02-23-2002 08:53 PM

That's just asking for a ticket brotha. Looks cool though.

bambuski 02-23-2002 08:55 PM

wow...i got 20% and thought that that was really dark.

Greg 02-23-2002 08:56 PM

all my windows are 13%. I know this because I have had the meter put on them by the cops.

WhosYoDadday85 02-23-2002 09:54 PM

Dude, I would be affraid to drive around you at night lets just leave it at that.....:susp:

VNlilMAN 02-23-2002 10:19 PM

daaamn now thats gangsta.... i dont have enough balls to get the front tinted cause you cant roll them down like the side ones. but i was thinking about getting the silver/metallic/mirror tint on the front so there's more of a glare but they still wont be able to tell its tinted cause its not dark, just more reflective.

XjIgGyBoNE 02-23-2002 10:33 PM

hey greg! nice car i was wonderin...im still tryin to change my tints so that noone can see through my car(OR ATLEAST HAS A HARD TIME SEEING THROUGH MY CAR) at night time.

IS 13% dark enough for someone to have a hard time seeing into the car at night time?

Greg 02-23-2002 10:43 PM

If you get up to my windows and press your face against the glass you can barely see anthing inside.

XjIgGyBoNE 02-23-2002 10:51 PM

GREG DO U HAVE A HARD TIME SEEING AT NIGHT TIME WHEN U DRIVE?

Greg 02-23-2002 10:56 PM

I dont have a hard time seeing at all but I'm used to it. All my cars are tinted like this.
It did take awhile to get used to the first time I had it done but that was 3yrs ago.
This isnt even the darkest car I've had. I had a 99 S-10 that was 3% on all windows.

tcneo 02-24-2002 12:16 AM

beware of the 6th sense driver !! LOL.. you might even be able to drive with your eyes closed man...

Shuohan 02-24-2002 12:53 AM

That's kinda risky isn't it? I have 17% on all my windows except windshield and have a hard time seeing out of the sides at night. But I prefer the windsheild not tinted because I want to be able to see at least what's in front of my car in regular colors... that would bug me to see everything darker than it actually was... make sense?

djlunatic 02-24-2002 10:27 AM

i had the equivalant of a 15% tint all the way around(not winsheild) and i had to take the front tints off. it was a big pain. every cop i passed would pull me over just to be an @$$. if you search the forum on tint you'll find a helpful thread that lists all the state laws on tint. i'm almost positive you're going to get harrassed on the windsheild tint.

Booohahaha 02-24-2002 10:39 AM

dude...that looks wicked
hahahaha kinda like a EVIL car looking to take people out lolz!:tup:

Voiceofid 02-24-2002 10:45 AM

i would be scared to drive at night like this...

Greg 02-24-2002 11:30 AM

I promise you that it really its that tough to see at night. Its just like driving around with your sunglasses on.:tup::tup:
35% is what is legal in my state. I think I'm a little darker.

WhosYoDadday85 02-24-2002 02:28 PM

So are you invovled in organized crime by any chance?

Damn Greg, May the Force be with you..

Zen Driving.. it's not just for monks..

Looks sweet though. I have 20% rear 35% front..

Cheers

kristy 02-24-2002 05:20 PM

GREG!:eek:That's awesome! I've thought about getting my windshield tinted but I dont really wanna risk it with the cops...I havent gotten harassed by them yet for my sides and I plan to keep it that way!
Looks kick@ss tho!

bobbyd 02-24-2002 08:10 PM

what about insurance? like if you get into an accident i hear that insurance will not cover you cause they will say that you could not see out very good?

Greg 02-25-2002 08:07 AM

I've never heard that about insurance before.

UncleB 02-25-2002 08:42 AM

not to sound mean or anything, but that is just plain stupid, but to each his own. it looks nice, but I am not risking my safety for looks. I will keep my 15% on the sides and rear and keep it at that.

Greg 02-25-2002 08:52 AM

I cant believe everybody thinking its hard to see out of. Almost all of my friends that have fixed up cars have their front windshield tinted. Hell I even see older people in my area with tinted windshields. I talked to my friend and he said he tints at least 1 or 2 windshields a week and most of them are older people.

UncleB 02-25-2002 08:54 AM

I don't know, it just seems risky to me. I know how hard it is for me to see out of my sides and back at night already. I can't imagine having the front done as well. hey, if it works for you, then cool. peace.

KurupTLX 02-25-2002 10:29 AM

Looks cool... i dont even think i've ever seen a tinted windshield
But just like everyone else i imagine it would be difficult to see out of at night

avenger 02-25-2002 01:21 PM

uuh, I know a guy who owns a tint shop in the bay area, and when I asked about the front windshield he said "I won't do it. Thats extremely illegal. My busniess can be sued because of it"

Greg 02-26-2002 07:14 AM

I dont have to worry about the cops because they are on my payrol

VNlilMAN 02-26-2002 01:46 PM

haha thats why...

NickDaMans02Civic 02-26-2002 02:16 PM

Love the tint job, looks really cool. Most people here in AZ I have seen at the darkest have like 5% on all 5 windows. I had 32% on my front sides then I went to 22% I may here soon jump down to 13% on the front sides, still have 6% on the back 3 though, the sun is too Bright here in AZ need the darkest tint a person can get. Sweet work on the ride and the tint

RallyEX 02-28-2002 07:32 AM

Greg is right though guys, alot of people get their windsheild tinted... My dad was considering doing it because he really has a problem with brightness.

I live across the state line, but only about 12 miles from Greg, but in a COMPLETELY different state. Where I live, if I had my windshield tinted in anything darker than 50%, i'd be f*cked.

Greg 02-28-2002 07:54 AM

RallyEX Are you going to tint your windshield and when are we going to do something to that damn center consule in my garage.

thundercats4ever 02-28-2002 08:44 AM

I would be afraid to drive at night. I tried driving with my sunglasses on at night and almost crashed.

brill 02-28-2002 03:21 PM

shazbot, thats hella sweet tint... most cops around here don't have time to pull over front window tinters, they can issue a ticket for it, and if you get in an accident, you'll be found partially or wholly at fault even if it isn't your fault... unless the tint was installed at the factory on every single other model like it. just like if someone hits you when you're yacking on a cellphone - you'll be found partially at fault. Anyways, thats in BC... so I didn't dare putting tint on my front windows and the windshield is really out of the question

Ive wanted to tint my front for a while,, though - it must be sooooo sweet cruising around in it

ShadyMilkMan 02-28-2002 06:34 PM

Brill your crude language offends me. Im a Christian so please stop.

Ramen 02-28-2002 06:37 PM

looks sweet but its gonna be a pain in the ass at nite..

Greg 02-28-2002 06:53 PM

In my state windshield tinting is ok as long as you have medical excuse saying that the brightness of other cars headlights effects your driving and I have one so they cant mess with me. I have been to court before because the dumbazz cop thought that he knew all the laws so he gave me a ticket but he was wrong and I won. So that once again shows that most cops dont even know the laws.

toastyghosty 02-28-2002 07:02 PM

yeah here in bc, it's illegal for front window tint and definitely windshield tint...
but regarding the insurance thing

that's one of the many first few questions the insurance adjusters ask you about " how was the visibility? "

and i'm sure if you have any tint and insurance companies down there are anything like they are here..they'll probably see you have tint..and use it as just cause for dinging you ... cuz if get in an accident. someone who has tint against someone who doesn't...it looks pretty darned grim for the person with the tint to get a "no fault" ruling.

windowtint 02-28-2002 11:15 PM

13% window tint on the windshield. You're brain dead and so is any person who will even install it. It is not a matter of MIGHT get in a wreck it is WHEN. ~ And every tinter has heard it before "no way dude.. I am like a totally good driver... I can see like an owl at night." Yeah. Ok. Whatever.

YES, it looks good... always will.. but it is an incredibly stupid stupid thing to do!! WHEN you DO get in a wreck... even if it's NOT your fault... YOU WILL NOT BE FOUND TO CARRY NO FAULT!!!! I dont care WHERE you live, NO state or country will allow that dark of film with even the medical exemption. None.

If anyone needs correct and professional information on window tinting, you may want to visit the country's top tinters at www.tintdude.com

dmanpr 02-28-2002 11:47 PM
