s2000.. like 600hp on stock internals..

QBoi 07-30-2005 09:33 PM

Test drive both and see what he likes the best.

The STI in my opinion looks too boy-racerish. You can't really ignore the power underneath the hood though. The flat four really makes a lot of power. If this guy is a track enthusiast, then go for the s2k. If this will be his year round car, and he gets stuck in snow, the STI will be better, because the car won't fishtail on turns.

he'll have to dump a lotta money into the thing to acheive that... sti's got 300hp/300 lbs stock...

I agree with Qboi though.. daily driver or not is a good way to decide...

just wonna add that the s2000 has a http://forum.finalgear.com/images/av...dedd29bfc5.gif to it.. which i like.

all he did was mention a fact. and you try to undermine it by going "oh yeah well, you'd have to spend a lot of money for that". ok? no one said you wouldn't?

you kinda say 300/300 as if it's a cool thing..... yet the S2000 runs about .6 seconds slower in the 1/4 mile with 240/153. not to mention it owns the STi in handling on the auto-x track. that's kinda sad then since the STi makes 300/300 don't you think?

my point is, numbers are useless. two different cars, two different purposes. the only way he can decide is if he figures out what he wants out of a car.

not arguing with you. just pointing out other sides of the coin. :)

Cocky 07-30-2005 11:09 PM

looks, i'd go s2000.. performance you can go either.. as far as the sound of them.. sti. i don't think you can have a meaner sounding 4 cylinder than the sti.. other than maybe that 700whp evo.

Little update.....

He went with the STI. He got a silver one with the silver rime. Very nice. The reason why he went with the STI is because the s2000 had no trunk, was only 2 seats, and he thinks it did not handle as well as the STI. Basically he said that the s2000 reminds him of a miata, its like a mid-life crisis car for 50 year olds. The only people we see driving s2000's around here are middle aged guys. Even the guy at the honda dealership told us that mostly older men purshase the s2000.

jackburton 07-31-2005 01:56 AM

600 hp on stock internals!!!
Try 400-50 and that is really not that reliable, so ive heard.

I heard your talking out of your... let's just leave it at that. 400hp is easily attainable on an s2k. Inlinepro, Full Race any decent kit w/ fuel management is in the 400's.

Very nice. Same outcome I would have choose. One thing is for sure, once you get a taste of boost or taste of boost in a AWD platform, you will never forget. Especially a modified STi. You jump in your car and you feel like "dam, where is my power".

Turbo + Awd = Yummy.

In terms of sound I love the s2000 sound. High revving formula one sound that scares people when you pass by.

Cocky 07-31-2005 09:22 AM

don't get me wrong, i love the sound of an s2000.. it's just an STI sounds so fxcking mean.. i love it.

wheres your proof an s2k can run easly at 600hp on stock internals. I find that hard to belive

Pn0ybOiLiKehOy 07-31-2005 10:34 AM

^^^ i heard that it can too but i dont know where...i would have chose the s2k over an STI. b/c i hate picking people up and besides the nsx, the s2000 is my dream car. but with the sti..i could still go snowboarding, but i would still choose the s2k

Sounds like he figured out which car fit him best. Aside from the handling, he made a good choice. (S2000 handles better than STi) Howver, if he's not a great driver, the STi will handle better for him, since it's a bit more dummy proof.

members have made over 500whp on pump gas, and made in the 550whp range with completely stock internals, save the head gasket.

not 600, but about 550. we've had 3 people who have done it. they don't run around with the boost like that all the time, but they have turned it up to that amount in some races, track times, etc. the one guy likes to do it to show off, and break the tires loose in 4th gear on the freeway by just mashing the gas. lol

fixeruper 07-31-2005 11:06 AM

^ thats f'in crazy though

ajhdragon 07-31-2005 11:59 AM

i would go with the sti just becaue i always have people coming with me and tend o carry around a lot of stuff, so it would just be more real to have as an everyday driver. but the s2000 isa great car, wouldn;t mind haveing one if i had another car with 4 seats somewhere too.

kasimmmmm 07-31-2005 12:04 PM

^ same here... plus i love fast 4drs.

He said 400hp wasn't reliable I didn't say 600whp on stock internal but they're close to it. Has anyone not seen the 750hp s2k in superstreet it's street trim.

kasimmmmm 07-31-2005 01:37 PM

yes its turboed... its got 400hp on the dyno.

S2000man01 07-31-2005 01:48 PM

the current highest whp is about 850 for an S2000

white2K2EX 07-31-2005 02:23 PM

^That's some crazy ish.

Hope your friend likes his STi!

Edit: If he, for any reason, doesn't like the STi, I'll take one for the team and trade with him :D

Titleist71 07-31-2005 08:59 PM

XxJDMCivicxX 08-01-2005 01:50 AM
