The new Honda S2200 Coupe will be out in Japan August of 2003. New coupe also received a bigger engine. The new engine is a 2.2 liter I4 and produces 250hp -- so it gained 10hp for extra 0.2 liters. MSRP will be from $34,300~up. This is the real coupe, not a detachable hardtop. The design of the car is based on old Honda S600.

aznboysrfr 07-29-2003 10:49 PM

=\ ... I like the s2000 better ...

konstanting 07-29-2003 10:50 PM

guamcivic2k1 07-29-2003 10:56 PM

aphillippy 07-29-2003 10:58 PM

i've been waiting (and saving) for a hardtop s2000, but not if it looks like that...

penguinboi329 07-29-2003 10:58 PM

saw that pic on s2ki.com

consensus was that it was photochopped.

i agree. looks like somebody took an s2k front and molded a 350Z back to it. the angle looks funny.

civicvtec1ps 07-29-2003 11:03 PM

saw that on s2ki.
i dont like it overall

xtiszx 07-29-2003 11:05 PM

a local honda dealership told me they were going to offer a super charged verison of it

edit: spelling

MangoEX 07-29-2003 11:06 PM

Whats that? Has really huge pockets to keep your change???

Silversleeper 07-29-2003 11:09 PM

Thats a photocop, looks kinda sexy though. The rims are way off. The angle is f'ed up like penguinboi stated.

JayFReaZy 07-29-2003 11:09 PM

I hope its a photochop, cuz i aint really feelin it :shake:

xtiszx 07-29-2003 11:11 PM

its like the same freaking thing....they DO make convertable hardtops you know -_- extra like 5000

O1Coupe 07-29-2003 11:54 PM

That was in Car & Driver... they had some details on the engines and stuff. Same horsepower, just broader band.

MangoEX 07-30-2003 12:04 AM

So it IS real?

THEANTIRICEST 07-30-2003 12:07 AM

looks fake to me

well a local dealer lied to you nothing from honda will come with fi or tq for that matter lol.

liquidblue 07-30-2003 12:38 AM

horrible chop. you can see how the headlights were just set over the body and the rims are all at bad angles and the car seems to bend.

BumpinCivic2k1 07-30-2003 12:43 AM

looks like mickey mouse in the background...

Re: NEW Next Generation Honda S2200!!

You can see the superimposed Southpart screen on the car. Look closely at the car. On the rear fender you can see the chef that appears in the episodes. And take a closer look at the drawing structure....Def. Southpark style.

At least that's what it looks like to me. It's chopped. The angle and everything is off.

:D

You're way off. First off, that is NOT the new S2000 in the pic. It's hardly overgoing ANY changes, and there will be NO coupe version. I've already seen the brochures for the 2004 roadster, and it is NOT a coupe. It's got minor changes to the looks, and a slightly "enhanced" console/dash. (to tell you the truth, your photochopped pic looks more like the RX8 with a honda badge)

Secondly, the gain in horsepower is more than that, considering that the japanese S2000 has ALWAYS had 247hp. So 250hp would only be a 3hp gain. Trust me, it's more than that.

Don't know who told you it was based off the S600.... the S2000 is it's own platform and it's own design, simply following in the S series roadster footsteps. The new S2000 with the 2.2 liter isn't based off anything other than it's own self... the S2000.

MangoEX 07-30-2003 08:49 AM

I copied and pasted that off a website dude. Those aren't my words. :)

blackcivic28 07-30-2003 09:58 AM

Hopefully they redesign the style a little though, it looks way too much like the chick car, the Miata.

I respect the engine though, and it would be sweet if Honda tuned the motor NA to be around 300 hp with a 10-11K rev limit.

But then, if they did that, would there be really anything you could do aftermarket, cause the engine would have to have a high ass compression to push out 300 hp.

greg2k1 07-30-2003 10:18 AM

It looks more like the top half of a 456m

civic-king 07-30-2003 10:34 AM

that thing looks like a mix of an rx-8 and a miata mx-5......what's withthe ghost face on this pic?

A coupe and a convertible with a hardtop are two completely different things. A convertible handles worse because of the reinforcing they have to do with the body. Car companies just don't chop off the top, redesign the trunk and call it a convertible. There's a lot more to what's different in chasis rigidity, weight.

i read about the new S2200 in car and driver. C&D say honda upped the displacement from 2.0L to 2.2L (i guess thats why its called S2200). they also mentioned that the S2200 will get MORE torque at a lower RPM (i guess honda thinks 153 lbs ft of torque at 7500RPM didn't cut it). they also say honda will lower the redline (hopefully not much, car sounds sweet when at 8000RPM+). a softer suspension and slight front fascia facelift are also in the mix. nothing mentioned about the car being a coupe, i guess its not happening this year.
