Appropriate engine temperature Runs at 195 consistent. Just saw it up at 205 and stay there after driving up a long gravel hill. How's that sound? |
Re: Appropriate engine temperature Not out of line for an engine under a load IMO. Did it drop back down after getting past the hill and resume flat ground travels? Is the radiator completely full and radiator fan runs when it should? |
Re: Appropriate engine temperature Well the hill was the end of the drive and I let it sit for about a minute and it dropped to 203 then came back up. fan was on, running well. car makes a UFO glug glug glug sound, doesn't sound like the engine so I'm wondering if it's air in the coolant. I bled it for like 45 on a flat area, thinking about an incline but those funnels are expensiveeeee :/ |
Re: Appropriate engine temperature Top of a water bottle works well in a pinch, provided you have something to cut the top off with. Alternatively, good aim has done me well for pouring coolant |
Re: Appropriate engine temperature 6th gens can have head gasket problems the same as 7th gens, slowly pushes coolant into the reservoir and hard to figure out, will pass the usual checks most people can think of. |
Re: Appropriate engine temperature Milled the head and replaced the gasket recently, I really hope not |
