You will need this wiring diagram

and a line output converter to go from speaker wire to RCA output

check this out to.

has anyone done this. used a line output converter and have pics? Correct me if i'm wrong, the best place to access the speaker wires is in the trunk, from the 6X9s...if splicing the 6x9 wires is all i needa do, then thats hella easy!

you dont even need that if yoru amp has speaker level inputs, dont orget to disconnect teh rear speakers when you splice them for signal!

for the remote a toggle switch on teh ciggarrete lighter makes a fine remote wire, make sure ou get +12 volts, not ground! wont work too wellif you ground the remote

no speaker level inputs thus the line coverter, thanks for the remote wiring tip.

I did in my wifes car....tapped off the rear speakers. No pics though....

Disconnect them only when in the process of hooking everything up, or permanently disconnected?

Since the cigarette lighter looses power when the key is switched off do you need the toggle switch? Anyone?

Yeah, my Pheonix Gold came with a little plug that looks like a mini-wiring harness for a head unit. Each wire is labeled for the speaker +/- and one ground connection. It says in the manual: "Maximum hi-level input: 35 watts per channel" so be careful. I'm sure they're all different, but it can't be too far from the max your amp can handle.

Since I got my manual out and read it for the first time since I first installed this thing a few years back... now I have a question.

When I ran this amp off my line-level outs from my Sony HU in my last car, it would clip horribly if I turned up the gain too much. That HU had 4 Volt outputs. I just read the following line:

Signal Input Sensitivity: 100 millivolts to 2 volts

Is this possibly the reason for the clipping? Was my line-level signal too much for the amps inputs? It was a low end Pheonix Gold model (QX2350) that I bought when SunTV went out of business for $163. (I went to a custom shop the next day and saw it for $399)
:_doh:
