04 Sedan Head Unit install -- Trying to keep the Stock CD Pocket

Is it possible?

I can't find a dash kit for an aftermarket head that only occupies the upper slot. I was wondering if such a thing existed. I like the nifty door!

Thanks!

Metra 99-7897

The product description says it is for a 2001. I have a 2004 sedan civic.

Will it still fit?

Just being cautious here.

Thankyou!

Used it in my 2005 EX Sedan, so I'm guessing yes :)

I used it with an Eclipse 8454 and had to modify it it a little bit to get enough depth for the face to open, but I imagine that would be true no matter what. The trim piece fit perfectly.

Yes it will fit I used it on my 2004 sedan

I used it on my 02 as well. My radio is an odd size, though. So I had to do a little filing to get a real nice fit, but I kept the door pocket.

the 01-05 are all exactly the same. only diffrence is the front end. and the shocks are a little diffrent they have 16mm camber bolts instead of 14mm.

All Civic coupe and sedan radios have the same size and dimensions. Anything designed for the 01 year model will fit 02, 03, 04 and 05 non-Si models. ;)

Oh, so that's why when you install shocks you have to do ... something... with some bolts or whatnot?

I used the same holes that the stock HU mounted to. All 4 screws lined up perfectly. I kept my EX pocket and just used a "faceplate" from one of the kits to cover the gap. It worked perfectly, and the radio is a little recessed (1/8") so I have less worries about another dash kit being ripped out

ramcosca 07-03-2006 12:53 PM

Recessed = pushed in or pulled out?

martinrr 07-03-2006 06:29 PM

Does anybody have a picture of it?

My car is the smoked silver, and the interior has a two-tone which matches. I take it this piece is just a flat black right?

ramcosca 07-03-2006 07:00 PM

Yup. Flat black it is. Check out rudy's link for a picture.

Metra Kit with Eclipse 8454 - actually is a better match than it looks, the Metra piece is a flatter finish than the stock plastic so it blends in.
