Ground Wires?

Anyone on here actually purchase the oversized ground wire package that is supposed to increase HP/TQ/mileage? Did they work, where did you get them and how much?

HondaLuver 12-19-2002 03:58 PM

i want to get one, i am just not sure which one is better, all it does is suppost to ground everythi8ng better and i don't know how but add horse and torque...

kjgracing 12-19-2002 03:59 PM

They come from the JDM market and go for about $27 bucks on ebay or

WHY ARE GROUNDS IMPORTANT
-------------------------

A good ground from the battery to chassis is very important for the
proper operation of your entire electrical system.

A proper ground, believe it or not, will also aid in your engine
idling properly, and that a proper spark gets to the spark plug.

A proper ground will also ensure that your starter will work properly
and will actually help lengthen its life.

STOCK PROBLEM
-------------

The main problem that I have seen is that stock, from the factory
the NEGATIVE cable is bolted to a nut that is welded to the chassis.

The problem with this being that it is relying on, for the most part,
contact through the threads. As some know, the contact patch around
where the cable lug touches the chassis, is usually painted. This does
not make a good conducter. Also for most of the upgrades, and addons
that the average enthusiast installs, adds on even more electrical load.
Also the stock cable is usually cheap, and not very well made.

Arospeed makes these wires as well.

Avereage price is $120 bucks

kjgracing 12-19-2002 04:08 PM

Here is the dude selling Ground Wires
I saw on import tuning they give you 2 horsepower and brighter lights.

ak 12-19-2002 04:22 PM

$7 to ship that? Hmmmmm.. I hate it when i buy something and they overcharge shipping.

For instance, i bought a memory card and paid $5 shipping. 10 days later it came in a vanilla envelope with a 37 cent stamp

ok out of topic. someone buy it and try. :)

nongv 12-19-2002 04:30 PM

can't you just go and buy 4 gauge power wire and do it yourself for cheaper than what they are selling it for?

GhettoCivic 12-19-2002 04:52 PM

- Yes, you could just go 4 gauge wire and do it yourself, but then you wouldn't have the pretty colors :_doh:

ohiojosh78 12-19-2002 04:56 PM

OK well is someone going to buy these or am i going to have to buy them and everyone will wait till summer(i live in ohio and have my car garaged) to find out how well they work.....and how pretty they are :)

Chyna 12-19-2002 05:08 PM

I have bought and installed the Hyper Ground Wiring Kit for my '01 ITR. Looks cool, but the diagram was backwards. W/ this set, you basically make a daisy chain. From Import Tuner, you get about 5hp for my car. Not sure about the civics.

RedDragon333 12-19-2002 05:08 PM

Im planning on getting them after Christmas

xblkcivicx 12-19-2002 06:20 PM

Groupbuycenter.com has the aerospeed grounding kit for 40 shipped! that's a deal.
heres the link:
GBC Aerospeed grounding kit

Mbow 12-19-2002 07:17 PM

Seems like everytime I try to access the GBC the darn page is down. Well, either it's down or they banned me or something.

Anyone else having problems accessing the GBC?

ohiojosh78 12-19-2002 07:35 PM

OK I looked around and found a guy myself that will sell the Arospeed kits to us for $50 shipped if we can get 5 or more! I'm taking one for sure let me know what color. I will post in the group buy section under AROSPEED GROUND WIRE KIT

HondaLuver 12-19-2002 07:38 PM

well that group buy is going for 40 bucks, probly shipped

ohiojosh78 12-19-2002 08:00 PM

yea, maybe...maybe not. The guy selling wont answer any questions. i checked out the Q&A section 3 questions 1 about shipping and Zero answers. and secondly i checked out their website....spretty shetty.

Bartkat 12-19-2002 11:28 PM

I got some of that courregated plastic wire loom cover stuff from JC Whitney and covered all my wires and some of the hoses. I had a lot left over so I covered the stock ground wire and it looks really good.

From the Group Buy Page

"These kits come in yellow, red, and blue. Gain up to 20+ HP!!!(on a turbo car)
Your engine is like your stero if the ground sucks you loose performance.
On top of that they look good. "

only $40

nongv 12-20-2002 09:49 AM

well that groupbuy is over already. that is why he is not answering any question.

xblkcivicx 12-20-2002 03:31 PM

If you go to his site or e-mail him, he will most likely let you in...he let me and my buddy in late. for 40 bux...that's a good deal.
good luck...

blouisgod 12-20-2002 05:06 PM

yeah the group buy thread on our site for the arospeed wires (50 shipped) on our site got locked. :_doh: i emailed that guy but no reply yet.

ohiojosh78 12-20-2002 09:52 PM

I was the one that started it. I dont know why but they will only let group buy's by the person that actually sells the item. They said to go directly to the guy on ebay that i was trying to get the group buy going for, but actually shouldnt we have to go through arospeed themselves then ....anyways if anyone wants to get in on it with me i need 4 others. Was the group buy on GBC $40 shipped or + shipping?

Bartkat 12-20-2002 10:19 PM

Bartkat 12-21-2002 09:29 PM

That's what the $40 is for, to find out where to hook the wires.

Bartkat 12-22-2002 08:55 AM

It could be worse, much worse.

Found this site via a magazine advertisement:

http://www.sunautomobile.com

Judging from the materials used, one could just go to their local car stereo shop and pick up a bunch of 8 guage wire and run it all over the engine bay.

While I've never added additional ground wires, I know that this has been done with favorable results by a lot of Subaru WRX owners.

The tech I talked to at HKS stated that these systems basically distribute the electrical grounding and provide a more balanced ground plain. (whatever that means?)
