KONI BLOWN

I just wanted to tell everyone that you can blow your Konis. The right rear side of my car was bottoming out on everybump that I hit. I have Ground Control and Konis. I finally bought another Koni and the bottoming out stopped. I guess shock was blown. When I looked at it I didn't see any oil on it. But I'm guessing it is blown. Is it covered under warranty

I don't know, but I'de like to know as well. It should at least have a limited warrenty of some sort.

LuZi0n 05-12-2002 07:10 PM

how long did it take before you blew it and how low did you have your car?

CivicVTec 05-12-2002 07:59 PM

u can always replace the koni, remember they got lifetime warranty

It was about 1.5 inches but it was set at full firm.

<< It was about 1.5 inches but it was set at full firm. >>

they should be fine unless u driven too harsh

Hmm... they should cover it. A lot of times manufacturers won't cover blown shocks on cars that are lowered past a certain point.

TOOLOWCIVIC 05-12-2002 09:02 PM

I was told it was because I had it to stiff. But isn't that what adjustables are for

When you set it at the firmest settings and have any drop more than 1.0, you have to avoid bumps otherwise it COULD ruin your suspension. Usually the only time you should set it at the firmest is when you go autocrossing because the roads on those type of courses are smooth. Atleast from what I hear.

Glad to hear you got it installed finally man. How's it riding now?

bo0sT 05-12-2002 09:52 PM

I will e-mail you tomorrow TOOLOW with prices on all that stuff you wanted wings west side skirts, xenon front, sportlines, and 19" C3's, z3 fenders.. let me know if there's more.

TOOLOWCIVIC 05-12-2002 10:30 PM

Boost, my car is riding a lot better now. Try to give me a price on the DC Sports ceramic header and Kaminari front with the WW sides and rear.

Erichyung 05-14-2002 03:51 AM

is the ride stiff or soft?

bo0sT 05-14-2002 09:53 PM

whatever he wants it to be. The shocks are adjustable from smooth to firm.

TOOLOWCIVIC 05-14-2002 10:35 PM

I drive it on smooth. It is better for everyday driving but if you want to go to the track or street race then you can adjust it to whatever you like.

Toolowcivic, I was wondering where you got your KONIs and stuff installed. I am looking for somewhere cheap to get it down and find somebody to help me install them. I do not mind getting dirty. By the way, I am in Houston.
