probably get better respond in products and parts...

anyway, I dont think InJen's SRI or CAI are CARB exempt... I think they're in the process of getting the CARB numbers, but I'm not too sure.
But my SRI isn't exempt, and I dont remember the CAI being exempt...

so yeah, its not CARB legal. I suppose if a police officer wants to, he can write you up for a fix-it ticket.

you need to get a cold air aem....their a whole lot louder

RunawaySoul 05-06-2002 05:33 PM

AEM CAI is also exempt too. But since you've already got the Injen, they are more powerful than AEM anyway. No worries man.

NytRyder2k2 05-06-2002 05:59 PM

Who said Injen is more powerful than AEM?? Is that proven? Hrmm i always thought AEM was better

JoeB16 05-06-2002 06:00 PM

if it has a CARB exemption sticker on it , its legal. just look when you get it.

RunawaySoul 05-06-2002 06:25 PM

Yeah, it's proven that Injen is better than AEM. Saw dynos showing that Injen was only like 1-2 horses better, but also in a different RPM zone. AEM showed gains at above 4000 rpms, and Injen showed more gains from 1000-4000 RPMS. So I guess it's basically if you're looking for gains below or above 4000 in which an intake decision should be made....I'm happy with my AEM though. I've seen that chart too.... I agree with Runaway...
INJEN CAI is the way to go.... But I have a Tenzo R short ram cause I could care less

i was looking to go with the injen too but decided not too because its not carb legal. i went with the aem instead. injen said they are trying to get it passed but currently not street legal in ca

JSWhaler 05-06-2002 10:31 PM

I don't think there is really any performance differences between the two, if there is it's probably not noticeable. Heck the intakes only get about 3more hp if your lucky. (realistically 1-2hp) I think it's gonna depend upon preference and the AEM valve piece.

EHouse 05-06-2002 11:36 PM

I agree with whaler-
But what's also extremely noteworthy is the person or persons who conducted the dynoz or even posted them. Not being cynical or anything, but faking a dyno is not exactly a difficult task.

Just thought I'd share; i've heard of this from other sources, and it makes total sense. Bias is omnipresent. :susp:

Peace!

hummm, I know my aem has a carb sticker, thats strange yours dosnt

sumama 05-07-2002 03:50 AM

injen all the way

RunawaySoul 05-07-2002 07:13 AM

If it's not CARB-exempt, what are they going to do? Is the Intake Police going to molest me?
