Which is better...19mm or 22mm rear sway bar?
 

Okay, I did a search and came up with no real definate answer to which would be better. If I am not mistaken, the neuspeed and RSX rear sway bar is 19mm. But, will the 22mm be too much? A lot of the threads say the 22 mm will cause oversteer or understeer...one of those. Then, somebody called Neuspeed about using a 22mm bar and they said it would not be wise. The 19mm is perfect for the street. So, for the people that have the 19mm or 22mm does it satisfy your needs? Also tell me if you are statisfied with your purchase.

I got the 22mm on order. They should be coming in next week. 19mm is safe for the street because it's going to be more predictable and it's probably more ideal for the Civic. I prefer a larger bar because I hang around drifters and I am purposely dialing in my car for more oversteer. With my skills, I should be able to handle a 22mm bar without a problem, and when my suspension is fully tuned, (coilovers, forged wheels, alignment, Torino's, strut/tie bars, etc..) I'm going for the Mugen 26mm rear sway. Now that's oversteer!

i think 22mm is better???? i do not know for sure

This is a re-post of a conversation I had with CivicVTec:

I did some more calculations and I had some discussion with my father and we came to the conclusion that a 22mm sway bar is the way to go.

We checked out the stiffness compared to the weight.

So...

(22/24)^4 gives us the relative stiffness of the 22mm rear sway bar to the 24mm front sway bar. This means that the 22mm sway bar is about 70% as stiff as the 24mm front sway bar.

The weight distribution is 40% in the rear and 60% in the front. This gives us the ratio of back-to-front weight of 40/60 or 67%. This is almost the same as the stiffness ratio mentioned above. Therefore we have almost the same rear-to-front stiffness ratio as we do the rear-to-front weight ratio.

In comparison, (19/24)^4 gives us the relative stiffness of the 19mm rear sway bar to the 24mm front sway bar. This means that the 19mm sway bar is about 40% as stiff as the 24mm front sway bar.

I would like to get some input from people that have the 19mm, 22mm, or both and tell us how the handling has changed and if it is dramtic.
