RAAM mat discount for 7thgen civic members untill march 31st

2k2civic got the deal $79 a for a 62.5sq.ft roll of RAAM60 (outperforms Dynamat extreme)...Easier to work with. Here's a Hint Dynamat extreme is $204.99 for a mere 36sq.ft. This is as good a deal as it gets. 1 roll can do both your doors and Under your hood. This will reduce road Noise Drastically. For you sound guys like me. 3 rolls will do your whole car with multiple layers in some places.... I have another product in my can and 165sq.ft has my car running quieter than my uncles Lexus ES300. .. email him at raam@raamaudio.com

Cheers

This is a pretty good deal. I got 100sq.ft. for $65 of this Pergo SilentStep stuff from Home Depot, but I barely started the roll since you have to spray on your own adhesive. The RAAM60 has it's own adhesive backing. I would get this stuff if I didn't have a roll of the stuff I got lying around.

Amphiprion 03-11-2002 04:54 PM

I'm in!!!

Daniel420 03-11-2002 08:36 PM

I bought a roll from him a while back and I did my entire trunk and rear panel and dash. it made a huge difference. I was happy as it was but now since there's a special i'll get it again and do my hood and doors... can't beat a quiet ride!!

i give this product :tup: if that's what you're waiting for then there you go.

my seal of approval !

OPGForce 03-11-2002 09:22 PM

not bad. sounds like a good deal. :)

slikor 03-12-2002 11:02 AM

to anyone who has ordered from this guy: how long does it usually take for the RAAM mat to come after you order it? and what kinda payment methods can you use?

mohawkboom 03-12-2002 12:18 PM

PayPal, Generally shipped within 2 days. takes 3-8 Business days to get to you.. Very Reliable...I Think he takes monbney orders too..why not Email him.. great guy.

slikor 03-12-2002 12:39 PM

sweet, i just emailed him for a quote for 3 rolls. thanks, mohawk:)

wing0 03-12-2002 12:47 PM

umm...this migh be a dumb question......how do you apply it??
or is there another topic that specifically talk about this?

mohawkboom 03-12-2002 01:20 PM

Wing..it's easy.. remove panels.. clean metal surface.. Peal off wax paper, stick to surface...

Daniel420 03-12-2002 03:18 PM

it takes regular UPS times... that's how he shipps it. he'll give oyu a tracking number and oyu can watch it get to your place.

the prefered payment is PayPal but i bet you can work other stuff out.

TommySI 03-12-2002 06:38 PM

Hello all.... I wrote, and this is the response.. I thought it to be pretty important. First Reply/Posting response for me. Here is the excerpt fromt eh email received.
" If you send me your zip code I will let you know the total shipped to your door. Please post that I do not recommend it for under the hood, I have so many orders and emails coming in right now I can barely keep up so this would help alot if you posted it for me as I am not a member of that forum.
I prefer Paypal but do require the customers to have a verified shipping address set up with them. If not money orders are fine, just let me know!
Thanks and have a great day,
Rick

Take care all... Tommy :)

Mbow 03-13-2002 06:32 PM

What I want to know is how much does this stuff weigh?

mohawkboom 03-13-2002 06:43 PM

.44lbs/ sq.ft ... Weight doesn't always eman better damping. It's a Bitumen based product and damps much better than Asphalt based deadeners of the same weight.. This stuff performs as well as Dynamat Extreme, Has a better adhesive.. more felxible.. easier to work with

Mbow 03-13-2002 07:40 PM

I was asking because I didn't want to be adding a lot of weight to my car. It's slow enough as it is. I wasn't talking about quality.

UncleB 03-14-2002 02:58 PM

I am going to get some of this. I hardly ever read the stickies at the top of the forums, but I just happened to catch this one. gonna e-mail him tonight. 2 rolls and I should be good to go.

Bartkat 03-15-2002 10:16 AM

Soi just email the guy and ask for the RAAM 60 deal?

Bartkat 03-15-2002 10:17 AM

slikor 03-15-2002 10:19 AM

<< Soi just email the guy and ask for the RAAM 60 deal? >>

thats what i did. Rick responded w/ the total price for the number of rolls i wanted and how much shipping would cost.

Bartkat 03-15-2002 01:03 PM

slikor

Thanks. Hey you look like my missing twin.

slikor 03-15-2002 01:07 PM

heh, yeah you're right:) lol

im planning to order some of this stuff, but the only thing is that 3 rolls will cost like $50 to ship to me. im wondering if maybe i should stick with 2 rolls...if i only do 1 layer all around would that still be enough for my entire car with 2 rolls?

0100010 03-16-2002 12:08 AM

Great guy(Rick), great product, I've got 4 rolls(200sq ft) of RAAM Mat sitting here waiting for me to install it. Ordered it from him last November, through a similar promo on EliteCarAudio.com. You guys won't be dissappointed.

mohawkboom 03-16-2002 06:37 PM

2 rolls is enough.. if you only get 2 don't do the whole car in one layer. Do your trunk, 2 layers in the doors, 2 layers for the door skin. 2 layers on your firewall. Use whatervers left to do the rest of your floor. The Doors and Firewall are where 80% of your road noise come from.. your trunk well if you have a system it's pretty important on our cars because there's alot of flex in the sheetmetal.

Cheers

UncleB 03-18-2002 09:55 AM

is the firewall the place that seperates the engine from the inside of the car? the wall that is behind the dash and glove box and all that fun stuff? I've done a lot of systems, but I have never used sound deadening material before. should be a new adventure for me. I am ordering mine on Friday.

slikor 03-18-2002 01:46 PM

how the crap do you get the sound deadening material on the firewall?!

UncleB 03-18-2002 02:12 PM

I assume you pull up the carpet and stick it on. hehe. I'm pretty sure it would be quite difficult to get it in the spots behind the dash. I think they are mainly talking about the part where your feet go and up as far as you can go.

slikor 03-18-2002 02:21 PM

i thought they meant behind the dash and all that when they said the firewall....but the toe-panel(s) i can understand

i understand now. thanks UncleB

UncleB 03-19-2002 03:01 PM

no problem. I just hope I have it correct. hehe. :)

I just got my debit card activated so I am all set to order this stuff on Friday. I'm so excited.

trevor 03-20-2002 02:56 PM

Ive installed many systems,,,,never had to use this stuff w/ my VW's.........

Anyone have pics of the trunk or anything..........
Do you just stick the whole thing to the trunk,,,,,,,not like cut in little strips or anything????
sorry if it a dumb question,, just not familiar.

SQCivic 03-20-2002 03:19 PM

I've just about finished laying down 200 sq feet of the RAAMmat and will post some pics this weekend.

mohawkboom 03-20-2002 03:28 PM

U Da Man!!!!.. How did you distribute it all.. doa hoodliner.... Overhead liner..do the backs of some plastic panels.. how's it stick.. is it easy to work with.. do you need a heat gun?..does it smell like a wet monkey?..how much did you pay?.. does it work really good?.. is your bass louder?.. is your car quieter?...how much does it weight?.. did it make your car slower?..

Did I miss any Newbie Qs?.. hmm wait.. How long did it take you?.. was it hard?.. How do I get my roofliner off?..

Cheers

Daniel420 03-20-2002 03:47 PM

Haha... you forgot will it void my warrantee? :):)

good to hear you got it done... I am waiting for mine to arrive then I'll have 112.5 sq ft of it in my car. (got 50 already in the trunk) I het your ride sounds quiet!

I was emailing w/ rick and he didn't suggest putting it under the roof because of heat issues. did you put it under there? tell us how it looks after a week. I wanna put some there but he said he didn't advise it. He didn't say it shouldn't be done jsut that he hasn't tested it so it isn't "approved" but it could be done i guess.

let us know.

SQCivic 03-20-2002 03:56 PM

Instead of waiting on my pics check out this guy's Celica. It will give you a good idea of where to put the stuff which is basically EVERYWHERE! :)

RAAMmat

SQCivic 03-20-2002 04:01 PM

Do NOT put it under the hood. There are products made specifically for that application.

I'm not done yet, still got a lot of areas to hit. I won't notice the improvement until I get everything back into the car. It's totally gutted at this point.

mohawkboom 03-20-2002 04:17 PM

Sounds good bro.. I Used Brown Bread.. the adhesive is much more ehat resistant so I used it as a hoodliner.. NO problems yet.. The summer will tell though,,, for my roofliner.. I used little clips too to be sure

SQCivic 03-20-2002 04:32 PM

With the moon roof on the EX there was not a lot of area up there to put much of the mat but I put it where I could. I was impressed at how solid the moon roof itself is mounted.

mohawkboom 03-21-2002 07:50 AM

that celica dudes pretty seriosu about deadening.. dude should have thought a bit more and used the spray on Deadener for the plastic panels ..

UncleB 03-21-2002 08:25 AM

There is a dude with a Maxima on that site that went overboard even more than that. The dude has like 10 pages with 20 pictures on each page, describing in detail what he did. he used like 400-500 sq. ft. or something crazy like that. he said himself that it was way overkill.

SQCivic 03-21-2002 08:39 AM

You do get to a point of diminishing returns with this stuff but even if you do go overboard (which I have) the improvements are very obvious. Also, when you compete, going overboard is just part of it whether it applies to the damping, wire protection, charging system, etc. That's just part of the fun and how the game works! Despite what many will try to tell you, there is no one right way to do any of this. :)

UncleB 03-21-2002 10:02 AM

I don't think 2 rolls is overboard for me. I think it will do just enough. I am excited to get started.

SQCivic 03-21-2002 10:15 AM

Far from it. Remember the secret to applying damping material is to use manageable size pieces. Have fun! :)

2k2civic 03-21-2002 08:24 PM

I have a roll sitting in my room right now. If I'm satisfied with the way my trunk turns out, I might have to go with a few more rolls. What I would really like to do is pull out the seats, carpets, panels, etc. and completely do the whole care, two layers on door panels, two layers on the floors, and 2-3 layers all around the trunk and trunk lid. Oh, and a layer or two on the headliner, and most likely, I will go for some other stuff to do the hood with. It'll probably end up costing me $500, but if you spend thousands on you system, why not make it right.

SQCivic 03-21-2002 09:29 PM

I agree. Are you from Louisiana or LA as in California?

2k2civic 03-21-2002 09:42 PM

That's LA as in California. I got my order real fast...return address says San Diego.

mohawkboom 03-21-2002 10:57 PM

2k2.. Your trunk is the second least important place to deaden so don't over do it.. just line the hood of your trunk and under the rear deck.. use the rest for your doors.. that's where the real difference is made.. Serious 62.5 sq.ft in the trunk is a waste..the floor of the trunk is allready damped..it's heavier guage steel..only the trunk lid and rear deck are actual problem spots..your trunk should use up maybe 25 sq.ft

Use the rest for your doors..(each doors uses 8 sq.ft per layer, so 2 layers each door(for a coupe) will kill alot of your road noise...when you get more than do the firewall, and floor. Then sidepanels of the car (or rear doors) then trunk basin.. Also a Hoodliner makes a pretty big difference too

UncleB 03-22-2002 08:01 AM

I just ordered my 2 rolls last night. He said he is shipping it today. woot!

thundercats4ever 03-23-2002 10:29 PM

Do you have to put it on with a roller? Also how much does it weigh for each roll?

2k2civic 03-24-2002 01:05 AM

Well, my system is the main reason I'm matting, not really to kill road noise.

mohawkboom 03-24-2002 10:04 AM

2k2.. in that case.. 2 layers on each door. 2 layers ont he trunk lid.. 2 layers on the rear deck...that's it .. that's all that resonates from your system .. killing road noise is a big thing for your sound system. then you hear more uninterrupted music from pesky outside noises.

Cheers
Mohawk

BTW.. thanks for getting the deal

mohawkboom 03-24-2002 10:06 AM

<< I just ordered my 2 rolls last night. He said he is shipping it today. woot! >>

Yup.. buy a Dynamat heavy duty rubber roller.. it weighs about 28lbs for the 62.5ft roll. ( I think).. to prep for install you'll need 4 cans of foaming window cleaner (unscented) 5-10 rolls of blue shop towels..1 roller... some basic hand tools. a heat gun helps a bit(read borrow yo momma's hair dryer)... and be patient.. Use manageable sized pieces and it's pretty straight forward.

Cheers
